2018-19 SFCU Player of the Season: RESULTS

Time to announce the results of the 2018–19 SFCU Player of the Season voting.

Thanks first of all to Jubal and James for making this possible. Thanks as well to everyone who voted throughout the year. Unfortunately it was the lowest average turnout we’ve ever had, but there were 99 unique voters across the season. Special mention to the regulars: there were 40 matches this season and @garuna voted in every single one of them! There were four who fell just one short: @mcflynnsboot (39), @sydneyfc_FTT (39), @bazm (39) and @bernieibini12345 (39), and another 5 who voted in at least 30 matches: @Clovis (37), @CountArach (36), @Hybrid (31), @pietro (30) and @CN001 (30).

And the result: Miloš Ninković is your 2018–19 SFCU Player of the Season

Ninko has finished in the top 3 in every season he’s played with the club, and he becomes the first player to win this award twice, having previously won in 2016–17. Although he won Man of the Match only five times this season, he was in the top 3 players in 22 of his 37 appearances.

In second place was Rhyan Grant who also had 5 MOTMs, followed by Andrew Redmayne, who had the most MOTMs this season (8), but only five other top-3 performances.

Here are the top 3 from every match:

Cheers for running this as always, even if it is more and more for us regulars.

Hard to argue with Milos, apart from a quiet start he’s been very good.

Thanks for running this mate. Always good fun!

Huge thanks Rowdy. Apologies I missed the 9 votes, there were times I intended to watch a match back prior to voting and didn’t get there. :pensive:

No surprises with that top 3, or top 5 really, though my members vote went to Rhyan just ahead of Milos. Biggest surprise there has to be the lack of votes for Brillante considering he played pretty much every game aside from when there was the Korean interest. Thought he and Caceres both improved a lot towards the end of the season and probably deserved a few points here and there.

Great work once again from Rowdy.

Love the snake icon for Vedran’s season win!

Great work and thanks from me too. Top 6 make perfect sense although we could always quibble a little about the order. What surprised me was how many points Siem got given how few games he played and how much of a passenger he was for many of those games (a few nice touches aside). For him to score so highly and Zullo and Brillante so lowly shows something about group think, I’d say (and was I the only person who ever gave Josh points?). We all hoped fervently that Siem would produce to his enormous potential and at any sign of this, we loaded in the points for him. Zullo had a couple of weaker games, particularly earlier in the season then was out injured for a couple of weeks, and everyone seemed to think that he was cooked as a player. I thought he was wonderful for us - yet again - for most of the season and particularly in the final heavy weeks.

+1. From the SCG game vs MV onwards he was back to his marauding best going forwards and still solid AF defensively.

It’s hard for Brilliant and Zullo to stand out when their direct comparisons are Grant and O’Neill. Doesn’t mean they’re no good but there’s a reason the latter two started for Australia last night.
