The Fox Sports A-League Fantasy Competition is on line again. The website is here…

My login and password from last year still worked but if you are a new use you can join by clicking the “Play Now” button and following the prompts.

The software will insist that you form a team before letting you register, if you are pressed for time just select the Auto Team Select button and the software will automatically select a team for you. You have unlimited transfers between now and Game Day One so you can always came back at a later time and fine tune your selection without penalty.

Another peculiarity of the software is that it will only let you field a 4-4-2 formation at first. Don’t worry about this, fill out the team sheet including the bench and then you can sub a midfielder or attacker for a defender and the software will automatically adjust the formation to 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 depending on your choices.

Rules of the SFCU League

The following are rules specific to the SFCU League. As per last year there will a Yellow Card and Red Card system

Yellow Card Offences

  • No MVFC players. If you have selected a MVFC player you will be issued a yellow card and will have one round to remove that player. One yellow will be issued per round.

  • Insufficient Sydney FC players. You must have a minimum on three Sydney FC players in your team.

  • Anyone selecting Brendon Santalab will be issued with Yellow Card.

  • Anyone selecting Iacopo La Rocca will be issued with a Yellow Card.

Red Card Offences

  • Anyone selecting Brendon Santalab as Captain will be issued with a Red Card.

  • Anyone selecting Iacopo La Rocca as Captain will be issued with a Red Card.

Please note the following

  • The Salary Cap is a very generous 3 million dollars but remember, you have to have good players on the bench for each of the Defender, Midfielder and Attacker positions.

  • The trick with these leagues is guess who will score more fantasy points than any other player and then assign them as your captain. Last year that was Milos Ninkovic but there are some quality foreign signings this year who will challenge him for that position.

We obviously have the old forum shenanigans to blame, but there are only 8 players in the league out of the usual 100+. Last year I didn’t join the SFCU league until round 2 or 3 (though I had a fantasy team in round 1), and my SFCU league points didn’t include the rounds before I joined. So everyone should join ASAP!

I can reset the SFCU League so the competition starts in Round 2 rather than Round 1. This is a poorly explained option in the management section, so I am not sure what effect this will have but given that the forum problems have hampered promotion of the SFCU Fantasy League, I might select the Round 2 option and see what happens.

Handy hints for Round 1 - Do not select Roy O’Donovan he is serving a lengthy ban for not kicking Kevin Muscat in the head in the Grand Final. Also, Trent Buhagiar has done his ACL.

Keep trying to make a team but click on add a player and just get the loading circle goign in circles for forever

Didn’t have this problem myself, try Auto-selecting a team and then amending the team to what you want. Otherwise, try clearing your cache.

Yep, definitely something wrong there. Same problem for me across all devices.

@Clovis, what browser/OS/device were you using when it worked?

I had the same issues described above using chrome and firefox on my Mac, and using chrome on work Surface. Think I finally ended up getting it to work on Microsoft Edge on my Surface.

Was very frustrating. I almost packed it in.

I’ve spotted this thread too late and had Honda in my team for two weeks. Can I join up if I transfer him out and take a points penalty for his total?

Apologies for the lateness of the Round 2 results. Work has been busy and also I experienced some of the connection problems mentioned in the postings above when I tried to access the Fantasy League Website on my PC.

As mentioned above, we are starting from Round 2 so there is just an Overall Leaders Board this week. Next week we will have the Top Ten for Round 3 as well as the Overall Leaders Board.
