2023-24 SFCU Player of the Season (vs CCM open now)

I don’t think that will be too hard…nobody deserves any votes from that game.

Dont worry, you didn’t miss anything.

I wouldn’t bother putting votes up again this week either…

Did they have bears driving round in little cars?

Not quite, the ballet is an entirely different meat in our cultural stew.

The good news is that Alexander Gavryluk’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto was triumphant, especially the cadenza. He mastered the full length of the keyboard in a manner reminiscent of Kealey Adamson controlling the right-hand flank :face_holding_back_tears:

The bad news is that the replay was listed, but not working, as of 11:30 last night, so Sydney FC has ruined my Saturday morning instead of just Friday night.

Here’s the voting page

Just bumping this after the weekend for anyone who missed it. Not many votes so far

Voted purely out of wanting to keep my 100% record this season. Not because I believe anybody really deserves the votes.

Result for Rd 2 vs Brisbane: Robert Mak becomes the 5th different player to win MOTM this season, taking the 7th of his Sydney FC career. I’m always interested to see how the votes fall in these types of (dogshit) matches and this one didn’t disappoint: every player who appeared on field picked up at least a vote, except one of the starters…

Thanks to everyone who voted, and I’ll take this chance for a third bump of the City voting from Friday:

Might get a few votes tonight… I hope…

Result for the loss away to Melbourne City: 2021-22 SFCU Player of the Season Anthony Caceres got his second MOTM for the season (after getting none last year). It wasn’t an emphatic win, however: he picked up just 27 votes from the 28 voters. That’s just the second time that the MOTM has averaged less than 1 vote per voter, after Joshua Brillante in the 2017 FFA Cup.

Still time to vote for the win over Adelaide:

I often don’t vote if I didn’t properly watch a game due to being distracted cooking or something else. I figure if I haven’t given the match full attention, it’s unfair to vote. However this season I should theoretically have been able to vote in all matches but it’s hard to keep anything close to ever present status when there’s nothing to pick out.

I know this makes me look extremely fair weather, but it was a pleasure to be able to vote again this week. While I found I was able to vote even in bitter defeat after round 1, rounds 2 and 3 I just could not pick anyone out as less shit/anonymous/ineffective than anyone else.

The win against Adelaide was a nice change in result and saw a big change in voting patterns. Recently, votes had been pretty sparsely spread; this time it was a two-horse race. There were 36 voters: all of them gave votes to MOTM Joe Lolley, and apart from one who gave Joe all 6 votes, all of them also gave votes to the second-placed man. The rules prevent me from saying who that was, but I’m sure you can guess. In all, an average of 4.89 out of 6 votes went to the top two, leaving scraps for the remaining players, and there were six players (including two starters) who ended up with zero.

Anyway, that’s the defending champ’s 4th MOTM in 9 matches this season. Interested to see if he can keep it up to become the first player to go back-to-back.

Thanks as usual to everyone who has voted. Check here after the game on Saturday night for voting to open.

Results for the derby loss: it was one of those games where not many players were considered worthy of points, with six players (including three starters) picking up duck eggs from our voters. Gabriel Lacerda did enough to take his second MOTM for the season, while there was just one vote separating second from third.

Given how many beers I consumed during the extended half-time and beyond, I’m amazed I managed to (correctly!) put up the poll after the Perth match, but it seems I missed out on posting it in this thread. So, I’ll blame that for the record-low turnout so far, and implore people to get your votes in!

Recent results: Joe Lolley was voted MOTM in the win over Perth, his fifth of the season. For the loss to Macarthur, Luke Brattan got his first of the season (& his first since April 2021).

Voting numbers have been slowly dropping lately, which is understandable. But it would be great to get some more for the Melbourne loss:

Some more recent results:

Away to Melbourne, Jaiden Kucharski came off the bench to win the first MOTM of his 26-game Sydney FC career. He’s the seventh different winner in 2023-24.

The Westivus win saw the lollies go to Joe Lolley, and it wasn’t even close. It is his sixth MOTM for the season, and he seems well on-track to beat the 7 he tallied last season.

Hoping to stay on top of this a bit better now that the holiday period is (sort of) over. And hopefully we get some more votes in as well: the two games above were our first for the season to dip below 20 votes  . There’s still time to vote for the win over Wellington:
