2024-25 SFCU Player of the Season (vs AU & WU open now)

I’d hate to see the donkey vote come into play. If people don’t think anyone deserved points, don’t vote - I know it doesn’t look good from a numbers perspective, but I’d rather see the best of the worst get the points rather than Arlo.

I think the system works fine and would be reluctant to see many, if any, changes to it all.

These options would be interesting. Granted it’s adding a degree of difficulty and complexity to the voting. It could give better representations of actual player of the year performances if there’s scaling.

@Rowdy Out of curiosity, what is the general voting stats count of people who don’t comment on SFCU. Or in general who/where are the votes coming from?

Are the most votes from regular SFCU posters? Do you have a count of how many different accounts vote?

I think you get where i’m coming from with this. Who is doing the voting?

And thank you for keeping this going. :grinning:

Are you suggesting dead people are being registered on SFCU in an attempt to skew the vote?

@Rowdy can you confirm if we have independent scrutinizers from WSW and Macarthur?

I guess i’m asking if people go to the front page to vote from external links, or are all the votes from regular SFCU posters. And how many different accounts/individuals vote.

It’s hard to answer, because you need to have an SFCU account in able to vote, but having a low post count doesn’t mean that you don’t actively lurk. There’s a full list from last season here, and it seems to me like a mix of people with varying levels of forum activity.

There have been a few responses to the survey from people who say they are interested in the awards but don’t have an SFCU account (so I guess they aren’t that interested!).

Given the correlation between forum activity and voting numbers over the years, I do think it is mostly driven by regular forum users (active or otherwise). I have a reasonable Twitter following but it’s not translating into votes, so registration here is an obvious barrier.

If there was some quick way to vote via other social channels, I’d think there might be a decent bump in numbers. But I think the tracking of voters is important and I also want to keep the connection between the awards and this site/community. So I guess as well as pestering/begging/facilitating more existing users to vote, to get back to the ~100 votes per game numbers from early seasons, I need to convince people to sign up here.

Everyone knows they’re letting all of those illegals flooding in to the forum vote.

In several key games, Mak was leading the count and then suddenly boxes full of ballots would come in during the late hours of the night all supposedly voting for Lolley until he’s back in the lead.

And let’s not even mention the dodgy voting machines during the Unite Round!!

Absolutely disgusting! I knew this was going to happen. If anyone is free, i’ve booked the following address for a press conference to announce our opposition to the vote!

So what I’m getting from this is that the new better system means that that ALL voters should submit 100 points of ID per vote and have their vote ratified and signed by an authority such as a JP before submission?

Jubal, Rowdy and at least one former Sydney FC captain need to sign the official document confirming the identity of the member in question.

I went to my local SFCU polling booth, and they tried to turn me away saying that I wasn’t properly registered ( logged in). I recognise voter suppression when I see it!

STOP THE STEAL!!

lol, that’s the image for one of my group chats. Still get a laugh out of it everytime I open it

@jubal1 can you confirm whether the voting system is supported through Dominion?

Forgetting and remembering then getting sidetracked when Im logging in again are definitely the two biggest reasons I have for when I miss voting

Last season i missed the start of voting for a few rounds because of personal reasons and thought if i start voting further in to the season it would skew the voting. So decided not to vote at all.

Looking at the amount of votes given by various people last season, i now realise if i miss out a round or three i should still vote later on.

I guess i was thinking too pedantic about it all.

This coming season i’ll submit my votes whenever i can. @Rowdy.

Yeah the ideal of the system is to get as many votes as possible for each individual match, so that we get the best impression of peoples’ top 3. Whether those voters are the same from week to week across the season barely matters, relatively speaking.
