stupid question for MOTM voting, just realized that if I have my mouse over the box and scroll down, it goes into negatives, is that just a bug?

Could have used that feature in some of early games last season
Yeah, people have pointed that out before and Iâve looked into it. I canât remember if it doesnât let you submit or if any negative votes come through as zero, but either way it doesnât affect the results.
Even if I had access to fix it, I probably wouldnât because scrolling someone down to -99 can be cathartic after certain games
vs Sanfrecce (WSW still open as well)
vs Auckland (Sanfrecce still open as well, if you prefer)
A great turnout for the derby, and it seemed like one where there werenât enough votes to go around. Only 40 of the 53 voters awarded points to the eventual MOTM, and only 29 of them also gave points to the second-placed player.
It ended up being almost as close as it can get at the top. Douglas Costa earned 59 votes to take his first MOTM with the club, followed by Patryk Klimala (57) just 2 votes behind, and Hayden Matthews (56) only 1 vote further back.
Still time to get your votes in for the two most recent losses: Sanfrecce will close tomorrow (Wed) night, while Auckland stays open until Sunday afternoon. Thanks for everyone whoâs voted!
More results!
The Sanfrecce game had a clear winner. Of the 45 voters, there were only 3 very harsh markers who didnât think Leo Sena deserved any votes for his performance. He ended up with an average of 2.60 votes per voter, which is high but only 60th on the all-time list. The highest ever scores usually come in matches where the whole team is terrible.
Behind Senaâs 117 votes was daylight, followed by Douglas Costa (37 votes) with his fourth pointscoring appearance in four games and Anas Ouahim (26) who rejoined the top 3 after missing out vs WSW.
Voting for the Auckland game is still open if you havenât managed it yet:
vs Brisbane (vs Auckland also still open until Sunday)
3 points to the young fella who ended up at ground level after the first goal and still got let back in.
Result for the Rd 2 loss to Auckland. Goalscorer Hayden Matthews came out on top for the fifth MOTM of his Sydney FC career (first one this season). Behind him were Anas Ouahim in second and Leo Sena in third.
Great voting numbers so far, even given the consecutive losses. Donât forget to vote for Brisbane away before our midweek game!
Just realised that with his 5th MOTM, young Hayden (23 appearances) has surpassed the 4 MOTMs that Alex Wilkinson managed in his 221 appearances.
No shade on Matthews but this seems a little crazy. Any thoughts @In_Like_Mcflynn ?
Almost never putting a foot wrong and having a high standard every game, Wilko was fairly anonymous as he went about his work. It was a testiment to his skill, as with defenders we tend to talk about them mostly when they do something wrong, as opposed to attackers who get talked about for doing something amazing.
I think itâs youth bias as well. Wilko came to us with a high reputation so every game he was judged against his usual high standard. (Same as @Rowdy to be honestâŠ)
Probably also why the criticism when the decline started felt unfair in that he wasnât terrible, it just wasnât at the level weâd come to expect.
Matthews stands out because he is doing things that you just donât expect 20 year old defenders to be doing, especially for us when weâve never really had such a high quality young central defender.
It also probably helps that we arenât as solid defensively either in that he needs to be making last ditch tackles and scrambling efforts. Wilko played in a team that was so solid that as above what he did was often unnoticed. Communication and organization doesnât stand out (well for me it doesâŠ)
Doesnt help that Wilkinson was here at a high point and was playing with a very strong team. I mean he played with Adrian, Ninko and all
vs Sanfrecce
You got this up before my stream showed the final whistle.
Haha made a bit easier when we make all subs before injury time
vs Macarthur (Sanfrecce still open)
Results are in for the Amazing Scenes away in Brisbane. Leo Sena became the second player (after Anas Ouahim) to take multiple MOTMs this season, earning an average of 2.40 votes per voter to get his second win. Behind him came the match-winner Jaiden Kucharski, followed by the other goalscorer, Patryk Klimala.
Iâm pretty stoked with the number of votes so far - weâve hit 40+ in each of the last four matches. But itâs looking like we will fall short of that for both Sanfrecce & Macarthur unless we get some more. Sanfrecce voting closes on Thursday night.
Results for the most recent two losses:
Against Hiroshima, Anthony Caceres got his first MOTM for the season â the 19th of his Sydney FC career. Only four votes back was Leo Sena, getting points for the fourth consecutive match. The final point went to Max Burgess, his first top-3 finish this season.
On debut Tiago Quintal fell 6 votes short of points from the bench against Sanfrecce. Against Macarthur, he went straight to the top, taking 64 votes from 38 voters to take MOTM. He is the second sub to win MOTM this season, after Anas Ouahim against Kaya â weirdly with exactly the same number of votes and voters. In second was Anthony Caceres just six votes back, followed by daylight and then Andrew Redmayne, who became the 11th different player to pick up points.
Thanks to all voters!
