Result for the win over Melbourne:

We had our biggest voting turnout since Rd 2 for this game, and it produced a clear top 3. Their vote totals of 90–62–30 were also very close to a 3–2–1 ratio, so I thought it’d be interesting to show the breakdown.

MOTM: Joe Lolley — 90 votes = (12 × 3) + (24 × 2) + (6 × 1) + (0 × 0) (i.e., everyone gave him at least one vote)

2nd: Douglas Costa — 62 votes = (2 × 3) + (21 × 2) + (14 × 1) + (5 × 0)

3rd: Corey Hollman — 30 votes = (3 × 3) + (1 × 2) + (19 × 1) + (19 × 0)

Thanks for the votes so far. Still time to get yours in for the draw with Newcastle before tomorrow night’s game:

Good to see the SFCU Player of the Season lack of wins motivated Lolley to pull his finger out

I just gave all 6 points to Lolley. I think it’s the first time I’ve given all 6 points to the same player before

Probably just give this one without a vote

Hardest one to give votes to for a while, for the right reasons. Obvious choice for winner but I will give a plug to our under appreciated underdog Lolley who gave it his absolute all tonight as always. He got 2 points for me despite not scoring or assisting.

Would have been nice to have 9 points to give this game

Caceres was superb also imo.

Sega, Caceras and King for me

As per midweek, having Sena and Hollman as DMs enabled Caceres to play his best game - in and around the opposition area. After a few sad looking weeks playing deeper, he’s back in the form which got him his cap
Segecic obviously awesome, but King, Caceres and Hollman all very good, and Grant had a solid game too.

Result for the draw away at Newcastle:

Joe Lolley made it two MOTMs in a row, this being the 20th of his Sydney FC career. That career total puts him level with Anthony Caceres (who picked up 2nd against the Jets) in fourth on the all-time list, just one behind Vedran and you’d be brave to bet against him getting his 21st after his Perth hat-trick. The final point went to Harrison Devenish-Meares in third, the first for his Sydney career.

Voting is still open for the wins over Perth and Central Coast, and come 7pm tomorrow evening you can even be in the exciting position of being able to submit votes for three matches at once! But if you can’t wait until then, click below now

vs Wellington… with CCM still open until Saturday night and Perth still open for another couple of hours!

No surprise for last week’s win over Perth, as Joe Lolley’s hat-trick earned him a hat-trick of MOTMs. 13 of the 44 voters (including all three @Sky_Blue_Stories hosts) gave him all 6 of their votes, and he ended up with an average of exactly 4.00 votes per voter. This is the equal fourth highest tally of all time, level with Joel Chianese vs Wellington in 2012, and behind only ADP vs Brisbane in 2012 (4.07), Yairo Yau vs CCM in 2012 (4.43) and Filip Holosko vs Brisbane in 2016 (4.53). It was the most outstanding individual performance in a Sydney win, according to these votes.

There weren’t many to go around after that, but Anthony Caceres and Corey Hollman picked up 19 and 16 votes respectively to get into the Player of the Season points.

Just two matches to go until we only announce MOTMs. Both of them are still open for your votes now:

6 for Quintal

Result for the win over CCM — again, no surprises as the hat-trick scorer Adrian Segecic got his 3rd MOTM of the season. It’s the fourth time this season that a substitute won MOTM, and the second of Sega’s seven career MOTMs to come off the bench. In second place was Anthony Caceres (his third 2nd-place in a row), followed by Joel King (his first point for the season).

Voting is still open for Wellington until Wednesday evening, and then Brisbane until Saturday night. NB — I had too many beers and didn’t realise that I’d left Alexandar Popovic off the voting list for the Brisbane game. If you wanted to give him some votes, please DM me.
