City have been awful.
City have been awful.
They are an absolute shambles of a club. Pathetic.
Brisbane look a lot better with Bowles in for Pepper.
City werenât going anywhere last season either until Arzani came through and started making an imprint on the league. I donât see that thereâs anyone like Arzani in the squad this season that will bail them out of this predicament. On paper I thought their team was pretty good but its easy to forget who is coaching them currently.
It wonât be easy to forget after the shower of shite theyâve served up tonight!
Are City group legally allowed to just drop Melbourne at any time, or is it worth just having them on the books to launder money through for FFP?
Once again, whats with them buying absolute no personality foreign players. The French bloke is just an absolute passenger, while that Budzinski was alright but totally unnecessary and constantly played out of position. You have to ask whats the point when they make all these signings pres-season and then somehow have to mash them all together to fit them in. It doesnt make any sense at all.
The idea that that they have to have Torres and Iniesta as marquees and three other top quality visa players is madness. Theyre never going to get any return on investment for that. But instead theyve got world class facilities developed by the City group and that starting side had McGree, Atkinson, Wales and Najjarine off the bench. Id be more than happy with them finishing 3-5th every season having pretty decent visa players (De Laet, Fornaroli and Schenkeveld are all class) and putting good investment into developing youth.
Iâm totally with you, its just they just donât feel like they have any real mindset toward anything at all, its such a hodgepodge of shit they throw at a wall they constantly hope sticks and doesnt.
Wow, what a shambles of a club. Somebodies ego is going to get bruised whether itâs fornaroli or joyce. Could never be my club
I agree in principle, but I think they still need one marquee with name recognition - they shouldâve been all over Honda IMO.
They have no compelling identity, if you have the misfortune of being from Melbourne, why on earth would you support them over Victory?
JohnnyRico makes a great point. Its pretty clear theyâre using Melbourne City as a FFP dodge. Its already proved to be somewhat productive for them thanks to Aaron Mooy. It might well turn out that way over the next few years with Daniel Arzani.
This was always the case. Thereâs a reason their first point of business was to change the clubâs emblem and jersey colour, Melbourne City would now be funneling money to Manchester under the guise of a licence fee.
The pundits here have always assumed CFG want to dominate everywhere they have a footprint, thatâs bullshit, here itâs just a loss-making venture designed to artificially inflate revenue back in the UK.
Iâm happy enough with them developing Aussie youth whilst theyâre at it. If theyâre sending off Mooys and Arzanis every few seasons I think theyâre doing a job. Would be Nice to develop a striker or two.
Maybe the night invest a bit more if thereâs ACL but yeah I agree they donât want to dominate everywhere and theyâve said before there simply isnât the rewards in the league for huge spending.
Yeah agreed. The sale will be made by Man City but thereâs an obvious benefit to the Aussie NT. Commentators were rolling out the âyouth productionâ line last night, dunno how much credit they can really take for Arzani who was only there for 5 minutes. Wales will probably be the next one shipped on they try to take credit for developing.
Atkinson has looked a pretty decent talent too. And if theyâre going to help McGree actually make it rather than bobbing around Iâll take that too. Najjarine and Pieras too are ones to watch
In the case of Arzani yeah they had him for 5 months but they the ones who got him to Celtic and would at least initially have an invested interest in him cracking Europe.
Mrcelaâs OG was a lot.
Scenes in Perth. 95th minute winner from Ikonimidis. Mariners a little unlucky but the late red card to Cisse worked against them.
Cisse out next week then, donât know if thatâs good or bad for us.
If Taggart is deserving of a look-in for the national team, then Ikonimidis also needs to be in the conversation if he keeps this up.
Ikon plays the one position weâre stacked in. Taggart plays our weakest position
