ALM - Round 22 Discussion - 2023/24

Every game i watch at the moment i think to myself “We can beat both of these teams”

We’ve won 2 in the last 5, so I’m not getting too far ahead of myself, but we do seem to have the highest ceiling.

When we’re good, we’re pretty good.

We’ve also only lost 1 in our last 12 or something ridiculous like that, and we were fairly unlucky to lose that one game against the top team away from home. And a few of the draws were with 10 men for a long stretch of the game.

But I get your point and agree mostly, we’re not tearing every team apart but I honestly think we are the best team in the comp at the moment - bold claim but I’d say we’re on par with Wellington at the very least.

Davila is quite good at football

There’s only one team in this and it isn’t Wests.

Faghani is absolutely horrid, textbook yellow card goes ignored.

Yeah, they barely functioned for the first 5-10 minutes but it’s been ALL Macarthur since.

What do we want as a result?

Draw gives us the chance to go into 4th should we beat Perth?

But Wanderers getting done… is Wanderers getting done

I’d rather WSW out of the finals. 3-6th for us doesn’t really make a difference.

Kealey off at HT, hope he’s OK, looked to land with an ankle very sideways having blocked a shot mid-stride.

I’d back us to smash them again should we meet them in the finals, as opposed to City who seem to have the wood on us when it comes to elimination games.

Wouldn’t mind a draw but would prefer Wests losing.

Edit: (Made same post in the kids thread)

Just to throw off topic for a sec… Our kids over in Dusseldorf are doing ok…

1-0 loss to Dusseldorf
2-1 win over FC Nordsjaelland
4-1 win over Royal Charleroi
2-0 win over FSV Mainz 05
Borussia Mönchengladbach next i think starts in 3 hours time…

By recent standards that’s red AF.

We’ve had a few red cards for much less.

And not even a foul. Your stigma’s a fucken myth.

You could see that coming a mile away, it’s what happens when you have 5-10 solid chances and don’t put a team away.

Honestly hard to fathom that non-review. Just when you think there’s a higher threshold for VAR intervention, courtesy of too many nonsense decisions that everyone’s raged against, you get the Rufer red card yesterday when he’s won a ball clean and actually tried to put no weight at all on the stricken player. Another one of those ones that looks bad on slo-mo, but in real-time wasn’t even a foul. Today the bunker has gone AWOL.

All we want is some semblance of consistency.

It’s a shame that the game turned on that moment, but this is just reinforcing that Macarthur are pretty bad apart from Davilla. I wouldn’t mind either Wests or Macarthur in the finals. Macarthur would be a fun finals away trip actually.

If only we were guaranteed finals football… what is it? 4 or 5 more games, 12 points on offer…
