ALM - Round 4 Discussion - 2024/25

Can anyone suggest any reason that wasn’t a penalty? I’m stunned.

It was a tackle from behind without even a hint of ball. VAR shouldn’t even have to come into it.

agreed, but the referee missing something is the whole reason it exists

That non-award of that penalty is absolutely perplexing.

The only thing more mysterious is how Walatee’s parents didn’t give him a first name starting with Q or K. Huge miss by them.

Don’t forget perth are playing.

These early kickoffs in Perth are brutal from the new grandstand staring into the setting sun.

It still wouldn’t be as good as the Hunts calling their son Karmichael.

Blows my mind that Schreiber is starting for City, Priestman started for Wests for the best part of a year before only recently losing out to Scicluna, yet Scarcella has barely played for the Jets so far.

And far more bizarrely, the Jets have Wellissol (or if you are going more like-for-like, Thomas Aquilina) starting over Clayton Taylor.

Perth are NZ knights quality.

I think Zdriilic will be the first coached sacked this season…
Also funny to hear the Shed singing “We’re fucking shit, we’re fucking shit”

It’s a shame because they looked decent for a few games in the cup. I wonder if something has happened in the dressing room since then.

Big win that for City but really gotta wonder whats going on for Perth (and why Zdrillic took this gig)

I don’t think Zdrilla will be there after the international break.

There’s clearly something going on behind the scenes. It’s not the strongest squad on paper but they’re nowhere near as bad as they’re playing. The longer he hangs around over there the more it will damage his coaching reputation and run the risk of being seen as just being an assistant.

I don’t see how the squad on paper isn’t exactly this bad TBH…

Zdrilla should come back to us as an assistant

Our pressing certainly hasnt been as intense or effective this season

Is that because Zdrilla isn’t here anymore or because Uffy’s flogged the fuck out of the core group of players?

I’m happy to sit on the fence and say it’s a combination of the 2. I mean we’re still trying to do it but the boys are tired. It only takes a player to be one step slower and the angles open up to play through (or over as per yesterday).

Consider also the players we have here now. To play a mega pressing game, you have to have mega fit players. Costa, Caceres and Lolley are all over 30, and two of those are injury-prone. Sena is only recently back to professional football after his health issues. Ouahim seems reasonably fit, but maybe not the quickest around the field.

We always needed to use our full squad and the injuries have forced our hand early. Injuries are obviously a fact of life, but I always thought Talay had to be a bit careful managing the squad this season, also taking the schedule into account. You can’t just play the same team every game with huge overseas trips during some weeks.

Bloke does not stop sprinting all game. Massive engine on him.
