Looking back at that interview with Ufuk Talay where he talks about what positions he wants filled:
“We are definitely looking for a striker, someone who is going to score goals for us.
“We are looking for a number six in that position as a holding midfielder and we are looking between the lines for a number 10; a creative player to add to the stocks of scoring goals.
“Also a central defender, we are pretty young in our backline with Hayden (Matthews) and Gurdy (Aaron Gurd), so hopefully we can bring in an experience player in that space to help guide those boys.”

Quite possible. I believe one of the reasons Forest got rid of him was that they thought he was injury prone, though he’s played a lot in the two seasons he’s played here. He’s not missed many games.
He’s been playing a load of golf according to his Instagram

Just going to throw this out there…
38 year old Roy O’Donovan, currently with Sydney Olympic. Has scored 56 goals in 75 league NPL appearances. This season, he’s 16 in 23.
He could probably still do a very tidy job in the league. No longer counts as a foreign player as he has his citezenship. As a squaddie for Champions League depth?
And he karate kicked the Melby keeper in the Chevy Chase. Sign him up

We are better off going for good NPL players compared to bringing in the shit youth players.
We should go for this gun ‘James Temelkovski’ playing for Marconi at the moment. He can actually shoot and assist

Should we live in the past or look at what is happening now?
We have a bunch of youth who don’t look ready for any first team experience.
I mean the past was literally last year and it’s also been pointed out that we had 4 first team players that were out, on top of the fact that we’re also looking to sign a few more foreign players…

We just played a bunch of youth who have zero first team experience. Now they have some.
True, not all young NPL prodigy types will become outstanding HAL players, but we bring through more than other clubs and there are plenty of success stories - see Matthews, JGR, etc. Pat Wood cops some stick on here but he was a golden boot winner in NPL as a teenager, its insane to just cast him aside as if that never happened. Nobody is arguing he should be our starting number nine, its almost certain we’ll get an import #9 to replace and hopefully improve on Fabio.
I would suspect even a match fit Hollman (another Sydney NPL youth success story) would have hugely changed the outcome in the cup game because we were at sea in the middle of the park.

I think what bernieibini means is that we should’ve just kept hitting Alt+F4 and reloading until we get loads of five-star prospects. I can’t believe the club didn’t think of that!
