ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25

Do they still have the mature aged rookie cap exemption that we used one season. Perfect for a backup goal keeper.

It’s YouTube highlights season.

I havent seen him play but has apparently spent a bit of his career in Romania and the US College system.

Did we sign Lautaro Martínez yet?

I heard he’s waiting to see if we sign Lewandowski first.
Apparently no Lewa = no Martinez.

I take it that at least one if not both are likely to be in the cap on minimum wage, happy to sign on for the lifestyle - because if we know one thing about great lifestyle in Sydney is that it’s cheap!

Marin France and Joe Lacey sign a league contracts

I’ve liked the look of France in the few games I’ve seen of him at NPL level and would be keen to see him get some A-League minutes next season along with Quintal. I don’t know about Lacey, but the NPL followers will likely have a good idea.

Joe Lacey already had a contract? I’m assuming he’s been upgraded from a scholarship?
He was on the bench for the first team earlier in the season but got injured and has only just got back into the NPL side.
Another one of the kids who have spent time in The Cove when they were younger if I’m not mistaken.

I thought Marin France had also signed on previously? He’s currently out of the NPL side because he’s on his break.

I already had Marin and France as having ALM contacts. Below is the current player list, if you see any errors or missing information please let me know.

I’d feel a lot better if we could announce the Cáceres extension…

Like country AND western.

Especially given the seniority of the departures. Six regular or semi regular starters going is a big opportunity but also a big risk.

I dont know what to think of the Caceres assists post on the gram yesterday. Not sure if it was a sign of him leaving or resigning.

The list of contracted players at the bottom of this list includes Caceres. That should be sufficient confirmation? Even though his last announced extension was until 2023/24…

Former Matildas boss Stajcic has two years left on his Glory deal but is set to be ousted by current Sydney FC assistant coach David Zdrilic, with an announcement expected next month.

Zdrillic sounds as good as gone which is a shame.

Another story to make all of us that have been around since Season 1 feel even older…

As soon as we overlooked him for the main gig when we got rid of Corica, it was only a matter of time. Best of luck to Zdrilic if he’s heading over there. There’s every chance he’ll do a good job over there. He needs the backing Stajcic didn’t get, though.
