ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25

I think it’s only really 2024.

Was playing regularly in MLS before moving back to Red Star, was in and out until he got injured around the new year, and was still reportedly coming back from injury as of Sep/Oct.

Interestingly he missed two months with an Achilles issue shortly before the move back to Serbia and then missed most of a year with a Heel issue six months later. Could be that the two were related and the long recovery has fixed it, or that his feet are just fucked for good?

He is crocked for sure

I’d go with the latter given what he’d be asking for.
I stand to be wrong but it’s got Jack Rodwell mk.2 written all over it.

Does anyone rate Lachie Jackson? Now a free agent. Tall, good in the air, seems to be good with the ball at his feet, not sure about his speed though, and if Uffie ends up playing a high line, centre backs with a bit of speed about them are probably going to be crucial.

Mentioned him earlier.
It’s him or Josh Laws for mine.

He could be after more money than we can afford? I’m assuming we’re close to the salary cap atm

Yeah I’d take Jackson. Hopefully a better player after a few years in Korea. He’d be a bit if experience the backline needs and around his peak years. Though transfermarkt says hes got an unknown injury.

I’ll take your word for that, I know very little about Josh.

Well if thats the case then serious questions need to be asked as to why the club allocated such a small part of the cap to our defence. Defence wins championships and if we’ve unbalanced the squad for too many attackers, then it needs calling out.

What do you mean if we have unbalanced the squad, we very obviously have an unbalanced squad.

i dont think its a cap thing because there were rumours before we loaned poppa that we were signing bailey wright. think the money is there for a cb but it has to be an aussie

Do wage loans count towards the cap? Do we get cap relief for Glasson and Wood if he goes?

Only for the ones you loan in and because of the Rogic loan, it’s the whole amount they are being paid, regardless of how much the club is paying.

For years, we’ve usually kept our transfer cards very close to our chest. We should all be used to it by now.

Man, I never thought I’d see the day people here would be hoping for Lachlan Jackson to join us. It goes to show how far he’s obviously come, from being frankly an almost NPL1-level defender at Newcastle to playing 80 league games over 4 years for Suwon.

Well we can probably forget about a new defender if Monteverde is on the money here and if terms are agreed. The club wants to keep Popovic.

Talay made vague comments about wanting to keep him in a recent post match interview, they didn’t sound at all definitive though. I would read more into the fact he has been found nowhere near the starting lineup in recent weeks more indicative than the article above or anything else. I’m glad that if he stays he’s now way down in the pecking order.

He’s injured

They mentioned on commentary that Uffie says he has an injury.

If he’s injured send him back to Korea.

If we signed a loan deal that included us treating a long term injury then it is yet another poor bit of business by ABJ.

It was mentioned in commentary the other day that it is Osteitis Pubis.
