Been our best player by far since she came back
Sheâs still only 24, certainly time to have a crack overseas again. The bigger question is if Vine extends.
Midfielders Taylor Ray, Darcey Malone, Zara Kruger and Lucy Johnson will not return next season following the end of their contracts, along with forwards Teigan Collister and Aideen Keane.
A refresh is always good but wonder where Ray will end up. Didnât play nearly as much as Iâd expected once she returned from the injury lay-off, but surely still good enough that other clubs would be taking a ticket and forming an orderly queue.
Ray going feels sad. Been around for so long but probably a move will be the fresh start she may need.
Reckon if we keep Vine thatâll mean one of Connors/Worts leaving. McLean also off contract end of this year, as well as Jada.
McLean played every minute of all 28 games this season, kept 12 clean sheets and scored one goal.
âIâm so proud to have won this award and to have helped Sydney FC to another title with this wonderful group of team-mates,â she said.
Cortnee Vine claimed the A-League Womenâs Golden Boot, with Mackenzie Hawkesby winning Womenâs Membersâ Player of the Year.
No other place to put it, but a portrait of Cortnee Vine by Tim Owers is an Archibald finalist.
Considering that ALW players will often be at NPL sides in the off-season, are they always off contract with their ALW side during the winter? Seem to recall with menâs one off-season Ivan N âdepartingâ Sydney FC, playing NPL, then resigning with us. IIRC thatâs how he swapped numbers with the Snek GK.
Based on what Iâve read previously, yes that is absolutely correct. Remember the big song and dance about female players getting the same minimum hourly rate as the men? There was a caveat to that. They clearly werenât/arenât getting paid the whole year around by the A-League clubs.
Two more years for Kirsty Fenton per a club email.
Brilliant. I love that we look after our injured players and extend them while they rehab.
Ante Juric re-signs.
2 more years of absolute dominance.
At least until he is made coach of the Tillies he whispers hopefully under his breath
Yeah, hopefully the new release clause is equivalent to the reduction in AL distributions, let FFA make up the difference for us.
Vine and McLean both off to the NWSL according to Sydney FC.
Shame, Iâd have hoped to see Vine go straight to one of the top leagues in Europe when she leaves. Not sure McLean has what it takes to compete at that level unfortunately, and it seems like they are a package deal.
TBH we didnât even deserve the last year of Vine time after her world cup heroics, happy she got to go out a winner. Fingers crossed she does wind up at Chelsea like her childhood wishlist.
