Australia Cup 2024 - Oakleigh Cannons vs. Sydney FC

If you have nothing to say about the game, shut the fuck up.

You seem determined to provoke another, more permanent, ban.

Oh no!

Back to the Olympics.

I’ll help you out, the correct answer is:

3 - Middleton
2 - France
1 - JK (lively, some nice touches, needed someone else on the same wavelength to bounce off)

Not scheduling it like a pre-season cup would probably help. They’ve tried too hard to cater to the whinging NPL teams.

All depends on what angle I’m sucking it from.

Having those floating ribs removed helps. :astonished:

Not without its upside.

Everyone should be ashamed of themselves tonight, especially Ufuk.

Is it too late to still go with Zdrillic?

you just gotta relax the throat. Helps with the gag reflex

Sorry.

It was just way obvious at that point haha

If that felt like watching 2 NPL sides its probably because most of that Sydney lineup has far more NPL minutes than at A league level, and the senior players in the squad weren’t doing us any favours.

Tight like gash?

Because it agree he is gash.

oh dear

Corica couldn’t get the inverted fullbacks to work the last two seasons, let’s see how long it takes Talay it figure out it doesn’t work with Grant coming inside.

Well, at least there was some entertainment at the end of that match.

Performance wise, well I’m torn between calling that fucking dreadful and being realistic about the situation.

Were what - A month into the off-season, and we’ve really only signed 1 first-team signing.

We have a small handful of regulars out, and replaced them with youth who are struggling at NPL level.

Up against a team who is firing in the Vic NPL, and has the desire and motivation to beat an A-League club.

Knocking is off twice in 3 seasons is a scalp that they wont easily forget.

However Unfortunately I dont think its a competition Talay values much at all. And goven there’s continental football at stake, thats a shame. Personally we should be looking to win every piece of silverware we can. If we want to be the best and the biggest that should be our goal.

Disappointing result, and it’s early days. But I really hope Talay is looking at bringing more players in, because we aren’t doing anything with that lineup except be cannon fodder.

If we prioritised this cup it means we would’ve been sacrificing ACL2, the ALM, or both. When I saw both Amanatidis and France in the starting eleven, I thought this result might happen. Let opposition fans be the idiots for laughing at us for losing this one. It’s clear Talay is a long way from finished with his recruitment, as well. As long as he gets moving with those signings during August, there’s not much of a reason to worry at this stage.

Would we though?

For A-League teams the cup is only maximum 5 games.

Cup Final is Oct 5, Cup QFs are 11-15th Sept, and semis are 21-22 sept.

League season starts October 18th.

ACL match day 1 is 17-19th September, MD2 is 1-3 October.

So whilst in theory it might have been a squeeze for the QF and semi, winning the Ro32 and Ro16 would have been good competitive match fitness ahead of the CL.

I’d be OK with us going out at the round of 16, but now we’ll have to have more of those inter-league club friendlies behind closed doors that are glorified training sessions rather than have actual competitive matches between now and MD1 CL.

I mean we may end up doing what the Mariners did, but any competitive trophy we should be aiming to win. As the biggest club in this country we should be striving to win every and any trophy on offer. Tonight I’ll write off, but no matter which way you spin it our performance and the result tonight was terrible.

We’re the first A-League club to be knocked out of the cup twice by the same NPL team. No matter how you view the competition, thats embarrassing for us. And a Victorian club too at that.
