Apparently his payouts for winning the trophy and getting booted are approx 12.5 m AUD

It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up next. I wouldn’t be surprised with an Ajax or Dortmund.

Spurs had the most losses ever for a team that didn’t get relegated

They were appalling in the final that (ridiculously) gave them the champions league spot

Not losing for 90 minutes shouldn’t give you another season.

A LOT of those losses happened when it was clear that neither relegation nor European qualification through league position would happen, while other important tournaments were live… and were thus completely irrelevant to anything

As I said in the English thread - it’s really the way he abandoned his plans at the back end of the season, too.

It’s fair enough, I think, to stick with someone who has a vision, if they can persuade you that there’s long term success behind some short term pain, but even Ange didn’t believe that by the end of this season.

His comments ahead of the Europa final - that cup finals aren’t like the league, that you need to work to a plan - must have sent chills down Daniel Levy’s spine.

I’m not sure how you trust someone who says that with a rare and precious Champions League campaign.

Turns out they weren’t though. Probably should’ve checked with his employers what their expectations were

I like this comment I read earlier:

ā€œAnge is an uncompromising ideologue about how to play aggressive football in every game, every week, in every competition. His vision for how he wanted Spurs to play was simply bigger than Daniel Levy’s wallet - to pull off what he wanted to in every competition would have required a much bigger squad than he was ever given. When the squad was fit, he played some scintillating football. When they were injury riddled, they were awful - and trying to persist with his style burned them out. It won’t surprise me at all if he goes to a different club, or a different league, is backed properly and rips everyone else a new asshole. He’s done it before.ā€

To me the owners get to once again not be responsible.

But why were they injury-riddled? It’s not all just luck.

Also, 78 points from the last 66 Premier league games is damning.

The narrative has already been set by the usual suspects. If Spurs kick on into the European spots under a new manager then it’s all credit to Ange for laying the platform and changing the clubs mentality into winners. If they continue to suck and stay rooted in the bottom half then they’ve brought it on themselves by not having faith in him.

I thought it was pretty telling that ange sacked the club doctor that had been with the club for years.

Yeah but the Ange stans are utterly convinced that he can do no wrong, ever and whatever went wrong is never his fault and any success is solely down to his genius, it’s getting really fucking old.

Frankly it reeks of Trumpist cult nonsense and make it hard for me to take the guy seriously, every word is genius, ever act, inspired. Anyone who does not worship his every move is a heretic. I don’t doubt his talent and I recognise his success, but he’s not some infallible god.

Ange has been wondering why he cant recreate the Broichbane Roar everywhere since he left them but without the Broich :joy:

Yengi has joined Milanovic at Aberdeen.

Everyone seems to land up in Scotland but no one has really managed to push on from it besides maybe Baccus

The Scottish Premiership is probably the next logical step up that doesn’t require a new language, and if they do a good job (and stay fit) then someone is bound to notice. Some of the guys who have gone over there have been unlucky with injuries. Arzani and Nieuwenhof come to mind. Rogic also had a heap of injuries over there.

Mooy?

Mooy came back to Wanderers before making it in Europe.

Fully get why players are going there- as Bluesky says it makes alot of sense on paper- but feels like its just not prepared anyone for a step up and a bigger transfer to England after. Baccus being the only one out of so many.

Mooy was also about as effective as Vitor Saba at Wests. Exaggeration, but it was his stint at City that set him up to go back to Europe and kick on. In the same boat as Super Dave here (Scotland → HAL → proper O/S career).

Mooy didn’t start under Poppa presumably because he didn’t throw boots and studs around like it was the 1970s. He was given more freedom at City, and shock horror his career took off.
