The people that talk about what he brings to the team always say he makes runs and stretches defences. But what’s the fucking point when every time he gets on the end of a diagonal ball he just strolls further wide and then recycles it backwards?
It means we have the exact same scenario again except with one less player as an option because he’s just removed himself from the next phase.
I don’t give a fuck how well he’s doing for his club side. This is cap # 71, and he’s proved time and time again that as a forward player he contributes next to fuck all in terms of goal threat or creating chances for other players at international level.
The biggest changes we have to make are just to step up and get into the game. We have been beaten on nearly every 50/50 ball, we’ve been pickpocketed many times after a poor touch, have under/over hit passes (and passed to the sidelines), no crosses anywhere near McLaren, corners have been appalling… no amount of tactics is going to overcome basic sh#t play
