Yep I agree.
We were playing too conservative/casual and inviting them back in the game. Mistakes happen.
We really needed to be in the front foot going for a few more goals

Genuinely one of the most tepid performances ive ever seen. Zero urgency, noaccountability in defense. Awful.
It’s a historically weak group of players but there has been nothing shown so far that Poppa will make them any better. I’d argue we are worse and it’s borderline unwatchable at the moment.

Well. We got out of jail… and now sit outright in 2nd in a stacked table.
Everyone but Japan shares or inability to put the ball in the back of the net.
That’s group is ridiculously tight… who knows who will join Japan…
Not sure it’s worse that any time in the last 6-8 years. There has been some improvement in smaller nations (Indonesia is a great example) that are making our stasis stand out though.

For real, it’s ridiculous that 7 points from 6 games is somehow still enough to be outright second.
Hope Matthews keeps his chin up after their freak goals. Lad had a really really good debut, won almost everything and was very tidy on the ball, looked way better stepping up and playing forward than any other CB in this window. Can’t think of another player who has so seamlessly stepped up from U20 → NPL → ALM → NT, and he’s done it in like 18 months. Should smash the ALM transfer record at seasons end, if he was English he’d already have an 8 figure price tag behind him.

Next 2 games against Indonesia and China looking pretty important, knowing that we’re unlikely to get much out of Japan or away in Saudi Arabia
