About 200km south of Shanghai. Famous for its West Lake and the Longing tea.
There is a small (by China standards) airport in Hangzhou but no direct flights that I can see to Australia (plenty to intermediate points like Singapore, KL , Bangkok), but probably easiest to fly into Shanghai and then HSR.
As above Shanghai F1 is on the weekend before.
Some tix for that are now available the F1.com (at a premium to the local China tix, but still cheaper than Melbourne) - https://tickets.formula1.com/en/f1-3182-china
Imagine ruining a holiday by watching a Socceroos game
Just a small city of 12 million. No need for a big airport! What a mind bending place China is.
Nice Lotus roof that matches that smaller one… but it’s an athletics stadium first, like many of those in Asia.
It was a fun tournament. Lots of good games elsewhere, too. Iran vs Iraq was an all-time classic.
Uzbekistan vs North Korea at Olympic Park was a highlight. Halfway through the game the most torrential rain I’ve ever seen at any sports event exploded out of nowhere and it was over by full time.
Also set a record that afternoon of being out of my seat and onto a train in 19 minutes.
Bought final tickets on a whim, dragged my mate along. We won. He loves bringing up the time I randomly surprised him with “we are going to the football out some pants on”.

Ole ole ole!
I would suggest the RBB will have you beat there
the BRB *
disagree, considering their crowd numbers, they have definite not been “right back”
For me the highlight was being behind the goal when Palestine saved a pen v Iraq. They lost, but it was a tight fought game and they weren’t humbled (unlike against Japan)
Some white guy wearing a Palestine keffiyeh asked what did I think I was doing and accused me of being against freedom because I was wearing a Japan jersey to the game at Newcastle.
Hey, I resemble that remark!
I would have had a jersey on too tho so probably not me at that time. Still my favourite one, I can wear it to sports and protests!
I don’t understand the link between a Japanese jersey and freedom? Or was it because you were in Newcastle?
I think the notion is, if you love freedom you should support Palestine always. Which is a bit silly even for me.
That’s pretty much what I got from it.
