Paul Fucking Izzo .
That really is an end of season squad. Looks like a lot of guys are off having post season “surgery”.

Who is missing that would expect to be there? I can think of Ryan and McGree off the top of my head.
TBF, he’s had a few blinders recently.
And even though it’s in Bangladesh, we should be beating them comfortably.
Not that I’m biased but I rekon Hayden Matthew’s could hold his own in that squad
Is Goodwin fully fit? He should be a walk up starter in any Socceroos squad at the moment
Some good strength in depth there surprisingly.
Circati - seems to have become first choice with Parma getting promoted to Serie A. Hopefully he’s maintained in here.
Burgess - first choice with Ipswich being promoted to the Chamionship.
Rowles - first choice with Hearts comfortably third in the SPL
The odd one out is Souttar. 98 league minutes all season and with Leicester getting promoted there’s basically zero chance for him there next season.
Obviously Souttar has still been decent for the national team but surely is moving this off-season probably to a lower championship team maybe?
I’ve basically never seen Circati so cant really have an opinion. Come August though he’d be our only player in a top 5 league right? Presuming Irankunda goes into the youth squad at Bayern or is loaned out to 2.Bundesliga or lower.
Burgess has seemed to have the edge on Rowles in recent squads right? With Souttar basically being the guaranteed started regardless of club time.
Gauci, Irvine and Metcalfe all in top divs next season…
Should’ve just picked Redmayne over Izzo for lulz
Nah Goodwin is injured.
Bit unlucky for Yazbek and Iredale to drop out but overall pretty happy with the team. I’d probably have gone Farrell over Behich but realise some experience is wanted in the squad and we arent going to do a Newcastle.
When you rank this squad by caps it really shows how little experience there is in half the squad
Just remembered that Deni Genreau is benching at Toulouse in Ligue 1 too. Really needs to move.
Enzo Maresca who has sidelined him like this is off to Chelsea, so he may have a chance to prove that he’s better than the 2 CBs who failed so miserably in the prem last time.
Hopefully Maresca has a dismal time of it at Chelsea, both because of that and because it’s Chelsea.

Really all National team matches should be on FTA. Men’s and Women’s
No way am I getting Paramount just to watch the Bangladesh game. Viacom should’ve really thought that one through.
Didnt they legislate for this? I thought all national team games definitely had to be on free to air
If the free to airs don’t take it up thou.
As Graham Arnold named his 25-man squad for the Subway Socceroos’ impending FIFA World Cup 2026™ Qualifiers against Bangladesh and Palestine, and with the fixtures coming at the end of a gruelling club season – which included a mid-season AFC Asian Cup campaign – several regular faces were unavailable or have been omitted from the squad.
These decisions have been made on a case-by-case basis, factoring in workload amongst any injury concerns.
Australia has already secured its passage to Round Three of World Cup qualification, and while a younger more inexperienced side has been chosen, with a nod to the future – the expectations to win both matches has not changed.
Arnold explained some of the reasons behind those absent from this camp at a recent press conference and offered an injury update on several players.
Maty Ryan has been given the window off to recuperate after a heavy 18-month workload, spending time with family in Australia and preparing for club pre-season. The Socceroos captain’s absence offers Arnold the chance to assess a younger crop of goalkeepers.
Craig Goodwin has been ruled out as he recovers from a broken rib, with the 32-year-old announcing on social media in early May his season had ended due to that injury.
Sammy Silvera has also been granted a rest following a busy year-and-a-half, which included coming off the back of his first season in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
Nathaniel Atkinson has also been given leave to rest prior to returning for pre-season, following a season that was punctuated by an ankle injury.
Riley McGree remains sidelined with a foot complaint. His rehabilitation program has been steadily progressing in his hometown of Adelaide, as he prepares to return to Middlesborough ahead of pre-season.
Aiden O’Neill continues to rehab his injured ankle in Brisbane – in consultation with Football Australia medical staff – after picking up the injury with Standard Liege in early-March.
John Iredale was in the frame to be called up for this camp but unfortunately sustained an injury with club side, SV Wehen Wiesbaden during their 2. Bundesliga relegation playoff.
Tom Glover continues his recovery from finger surgery in Melbourne, having picked up an injury in his first season in the EFL Championship.
Lewis Miller continues to work with staff at Hibernian FC on his recovery from an injured hamstring, which prevented his selection in the FIFA Men’s March International Window.

Subway Socceroos Injury Update | June Window | Socceroos
Nice that they dropped this so we can see the selection reasoning- but probably also to stop all the internet whinging that he dropped Ryan and Goodwin
Seems to have a pretty positive first season in England. Not starting regularly but appearing most league games. 12 starts & 25 sub appearances. 4 goals 2 assists. Started all their league cup games. 5 games 2 goals 1 assist.
So we always get a list like that? Pretty good of them
The explanations are a great idea, if only to shut up the anti-Arnold crowd about “why did he not select so and so player, worst coach in history” type nonsense.
