Saudi Arabia scored a staggeringly inept 7 goals in 10 qualifiers. At the end of the day that’s a big contribution to Australia’s qualification…
So I note Australia’s least favourite dual national Italy- Aus junior hasn’t selected for the UEFA U21 tournament.
Time for another olive branch?
I’m not sure if he’s eligible to play because of his age, if not now then by the time the u21 tournament comes around. He plays as a trequartista, which we don’t really set up for.
Also, he played for Italy last year in an u23 tournament, so I guess he’s made his decision.
Bit of a side topic… What’s the current sentiment about the Green and Gold Army? Still a pack of assholes or are they decent now?
Well that just surfaced an unpleasant memory.
I went to a game against the Solomons (maybe 04ish) and was edging towards their bay until they started chanting “you eat people”. That was it for the GGA for me.
They hit the “Sing when you’re whaling” chant in Tokyo last year.
Well we’re losing Subway as the naming rights sponsor. We will no longer see various Matildas trying to unhinge their jaw or some girthy American sandwich that actually looks nice.
I suspect it’ll be an announcement of their replacement. Something generic like Commonwealth Bank I suspect.
