Australian Professional Leagues - They can't be worse than the FFA... can they?

Are they though?

Also with rising interest rates, the country being on the precipice of a recession, I’m sure football fans will flock to travel interstate and spend plenty of money for a grand final.

APL and events NSW must be praying that every grand final for the next 3 years is Syd v WSW, especially after the flop that was that mini tournament the other week

I think they would be praying for Victory to make it every year. Get some of the flight and hotel money coming into the state. Won’t sell out the match of course but all about the green

Yep in my opinion they do. How many Sydney fans went down to Melb when we made the final down there?

What? As said this move makes no sense, Victory vs Adelaide isnt worth being played in Sydney

Equating Australia with Europe is absurd, though, for all sorts of reasons.

I really don’t think hosting the game in a specific city is going to win the masses over. Football struggles enough to fill out stadiums for Grand Finals nowadays.

Joey Lynch gets it

Danny is a good talker, can’t wait to see him sell this one for reasons outside $’s.

Nobody mentioned Europe. A League fans travel for big matches. I’m sure everyone here has hopped on a few planes to support the team.

Anyway I’m not trying to defend the idea as for the sport it’s stupid but I can see how it makes sense financially

Yeah that’s fine, but that was a justified trip. How many MV fans would have done the same trip to go up to Sydney, knowing that they’ve been screwed over by the A-League?

It’s the money .

They spent all the Silverlake money before they even got it and they’re hard up for it.

Then, errr, you’ll have to remind me who’s responsible for that situation.

To be honest I find this kind of idiotic from a Destination NSW point of view too.

What if one of these years we get a City vs Perth final. You really want to be promoting a final where 15,000 people show up?

I think 15,000 would be generous to be honest.

It’s actually quite smart from their point of view. They won’t care about the actual games. They’ll use it to sell this to international teams coming here. Why would a visiting team chose Melbourne or Brisbane over Sydney, when the whole centrepiece of Australian football has deemed Sydney to be the best choice to play the final?

It also adds to the whole argument of which city is the home of sport in Australia.

Does it start from this season? Sure gonna suck when someone else wins a trophy in our new digs before….

They’re probably stupid enough to take it to Homebush.
