Is it the yellow badge that they’re all wearing?

I noticed everyone in the foreground was wearing one but had no idea what it was. Definitely narrows it down to a couple of years.

I saw that and what looks to be a fighter plane on the right hand side of the picture but thought it was an early 1950’s airshow.
