The library is also there for members of Congress to do research. It’s not like they have storytime Tuesday for preschoolers.
Trump is reportedly accepting a luxury jet from Qatar to use as Airforce One. There’s also suggestions that it’s personally being signed to him to allow him to use it after the Presidency is up. I mean holy shit, a foreign government giving them a jet to use as official government transport is bad enough, but giving it to him to use after is just absolutely fucked…

There’s now suggestions that Trump is looking at suspending Habeas corpus (essentially the right to stop unlawful detention). They’re basing this on their ability to suspend this in times of war/invasion.
On top of that, the Department of Defence and Departments of Homeland Security are completely utterly flouting the law. DoD has not yet presented their budget requests and there’s no timelines as to when these will be given to Congress. Something that’s a legal requirement for them to do. DHS is refusing to implement budgetary spending that was approved by congress. On top of that, they’re shifting money internally, cutting spending from approved projects, all to shift more “defences” to the border, while weakening other defences. The kicker though, is that they’re looking like DHS will be out of money in the next month or two…
All of that is actually breaking the law, with zero repercussions

I think that’s all well and true, but the fact of the matter is that they’re already ignoring it in any case. So saying it’s just a smokescreen isn’t exactly true if ICE agents are allowed unfettered access to all households, anyone seen assisting migrants or hindering ICE agents can be arrested, and they’re sending arrested individuals to random prisons to ensure that they’re impossible to track down.
They’re already ignoring court orders all the way up to the Supreme Court, which is currently too much up Trump’s arse, to enforce the constituation that they’re meant to defend.
