We did have a German coach once …
Only to the head.
Not more Jocks, FFS
Uffie would be the only acceptable candidate for my money.
Some of the names in this thread though, God I hope y’all are joking…
Seriously though hasnt the club spoken about promoting from within - making Stanton likely.
If Brosque had gone into coaching, I could have totally managed a Corica to Brosque transition.
Hopefully not Paul Reid!
If we’re promoting from within then there is no-one more qualified than Howie Fondyke.
That tweet reads horribly like one of those FM speculation notification.
Dunno how in-the-know cornflakes is, but interesting that it’s him that’s broken the news. As disappointed as I am with this rumour - because that’s all it is at this stage, I suppose we knew this would possibly eventually come. What’s Cornthwaite doing in post-retirement that would allow him to break the news?
I think Bimbi enjoyed his time at Hiroshima as a player, and I think would be a good test of his overall managerial credentials. Aussie managers seem to be the hot thing in Japan at the moment, Postecoglues and to a lesser extent, Arthur Pappas’ success over there means the chance of decent Aussie managers going there will be higher.
Is there any suggestion of what club over there is interested in him? I think Yokohama are interested in Muscat, but I suppose that doesn’t mean running their eye over the likes of Corica as a possible Ange replacement.
If it does eventuate, I would be OK with Talay or Stajcic as a replacement. Honestly don’t think the club would look overseas for a foreign manager. Maybe Stajcic was aware of something, and has already been approached by the club, possibly a reason why he bailed from the Mariners?
Well Stajcic seemed nailed on for Western United when he first left. The lack of any movement in that regard is interesting though.
I’m also on the Talay train, though didn’t he just sign an extension at the Nix?
We’re this to happen I’d expect nothing less than a comprehensive global search by the club to find a replacement. And also that Staj or Uffy would be the result.
My dream is staj or uffie as mentioned, staj seems more likely at this point, I wouldn’t want Talay shirking a contract Rudan style to come to us, it would speak poorly of his character.
Without those two and the option had to come from Australia, Id promote within, choose one of the assistants. The whole setup of the club for right or wrong is to build a system top down, bringing people in from outside of that system needs to be a genuine circumstance. Talay and Staj helped build the system in place now so that transition to those two would not be too cart rocking
Definitely joking, at least on my part.
That’s giving me warm and tinglies in my warm and tingly bits.
Good on Stevie, if true. You just know he’s going to be low key one of the most successful Australian coaches of all time. Deserves it.
Talay just signed a pretty big extension at the Nix. Don’t know how you guys think that’s going to work.
You’d think Stajic is a possibility, but would he really be the right fit?
This is a nice angle of the same tackle. Even has a bit of a clank sound to it.
I thought he got the ball to be honest
Having a look at wiki there’s only Yokohama thst look like they need a manager. Maybe Corica is the Plan B if they don’t sign Muscat
Feels like us with Serbs in the RoT.
Could be J2 I guess. Maybe Cornthwaites sources didn’t specify?
Cklamovski going great in J2 at the moment after failing a J1 job last year without Ange.
Pretty sure Fondyke got a standing ovation from the Perth fans after that
