WIll be for shit for Bimbi if the transfer is canned because of COVID. We’ll get him for at least another year then which would be good.
Means Bimbi would be beating up on Muscat one more time?
He was doing work for Fox Sports Asia before he went back to Oz so will have somewhat good contacts. I’d be generally trusting of anything he was reporting.
Corica is approached for the job arthur papas left behind i think in j3
Has there been any update in this rumour? Sounded a lot like off-season gossip to be honest.
Apparently the great silver fox is being inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame.
Deserved.
Happy 49th birthday to the Silver Fox.
So the question is when the board "reviews’ the season is that do they & the fans want another season of this shit from Corica ?
We had one very bad season and three really good ones. Pity, it wasn’t like Arnie’s four years: good, terrible, insanely good, insanely good. FWIW, I liked how Bimbi had us playing a couple of years ago.
My main complaint about Corica is that he is the ultimate teacher’s pet selector of starting 11s. At times Arnold and Vitje were bad too (we all probably are) but Corica this year (and last) has been really let down by his own stubborn insistence on backing poor performers.
Two really good ones I’d contend. 2021 was more “pretty” good. We struggled for a lot of the season, only turned it around late due to experience (in what was a pretty weak field with COVID etc) then got spanked in the decider. Yes, the send off, but Bratts only got sent off because he was striving extra hard to try and turn it back our way.
What are the odds that the players we are going to stuck with due to contractual reasons & can’t let go are going to be supplemented with incoming players of Corica’s choosing & tactical approach are between them all going to be able to produce a season that is somewhere between ‘very bad’ & ‘really good’ ?
So apparently we’ve lost 6 in a row which is a club record.
Windless in 9, one short of Lavička’s 10-game mark to start the 10/11 season.
That Adelaide game broke the season.
Next season will be Corica’s ultimate test. While he has recruited well since taking the reins, it has been more about building on the existing squad up to this point.
This off-season he needs to rebuild a squad for the first time. It will be an opportunity to consider what the playing style/formation will be moving forward because unlike other seasons he has the opportunity to significantly change by bringing in key first team players in key roles to support a new style. The question is: will he?
Umm.
Really?
Alfie (v 1), Brattan, McGowan were pretty damn good. Then Burgess. Hof, Yaz, Wood and Talbot coming through well.
Kosta started wellish and declined and Retre was poor at the start and gradually improved (but I still don’t want him re-signed).
Amini has shown some very good and some very frustrating moments. Ditto Siem.
Offers is the major disappointment.
Not re-signing Retre would be poor squad management. Hes a versatile squaddie who can cover multiple positions, is proven to be competent at this level and by now would probably be eligible for some loyalty discount. Any replacement would cost more. You need those types of players to free cap space for bigger signings.
Debatable at best. I honestly think he is a liability to the point where I’d rather save cap space by playing a youth player.
