Righto, at least it’s done so we can get on with contract extensions and new signings.
Was in the “out” camp but will back the club and Stevie 100% (intending to do so anyways but Scotty had me at “evolve the playing style”).

Might just be PR spin but if the boss is saying Corica will evolve the playing style you’d hope he will be held to that.
Thank god. I’m willing to give him time to bed that in but if we line up the same way again next season then he’s done.
Weird reason to change the playing style, but I guess “we’ve been found out” wouldn’t sound as good.
The club and Corica seem acutely aware that changes are needed and are making a real point of it. Which is great to see but the proof will be in the pudding.
I am 100% behind Corica and think he will prove a lot of people wrong just as he has done in the past.
Of course evolve the playing style could be anything from tweaking some of the runs the fullbacks make in our regular 4-2-2-2 to a 3-3-3-1 with inverted centre backs
All predictable motherhood statements from him and the club. One wonders why , if new CEO is imminent , the decision on coach couldn’t wait.
The quotes attributed to Corica today read like someone coming in as a new coach , as if he had no hand in the demise this last season but all these “new” ideas to turn things around.
I’m not at all convinced- yeah of course I hope I’m wrong, but expecting him to do a 180 on what he’s done in last 12 months …I don’t know…
So, the next 12 months are competition between my workplace and my football team.
Which is the most mediocre!
It’s probably the right decision for the club but I am nonetheless deeply uninspired by it and sceptical that he will be able to turn it around.
I noticed in his video interview that he did say “looking at changes to the playing style” but then threw in a “if we need to”.
Don’t like nit picking words but get the feeling it could be a “yeah we looked at it but I’m sticking with the 4-2-2-2”
Glad the speculation is over. No choice but to get behind the great man now
Agree, though there are worse reasons than - the boys are sick of doing the same shit, the fans a sick of watching the same shit, it’s time to move on.
I’m not expecting we see radical tactical changes, though.
Edit: I reckon he’s also said the word “fresh” about ten thousand times in his media since he got back.
I think he might just have it on the brain.
Not displeased, and two years is fair for such a legend. But the faith is on him being able to try something new and adapt.
There will be big pressure on him to deliver at least 1 trophy next season you would think.
I’m extremely sceptical & admittedly disappointed with this contract extension however I would love nothing more than to be proven completely wrong. One man is not the club however so I’m behind everyone as always on whatever they’re undertaking.
I have to saw that when the Chairman uses the words “evolving the playing style” you know that’s just a diplomatic way of saying that he personally thought we were eye bleeding to watch.
I assumed it was the diplomatic way of acknowledging half the squad were being played out of position.
How diplomatic of you.
While I would have preferred us to move on, I will back the club on this decision and hope Corica can turn it around.
I fear that it might become quite toxic if it turns out all we’ve done is just whack a fresh coat of paint on it though.
It seems to be pretty uniform on here that many of us have scraped together the last of our goodwill for Corica (the manager) this season.
If he fucks up it will not only ruin that but also maybe severely hamper where he can go next. For that reason, while I can grudgingly understand why the club decided to go with our sensible stable approach which has served us well and differentiated us from the rabble of a league, for Corica’s own sake, going elsewhere might have been better… provided there was the interest, obviously.
It’s done. He has the backing of the club. As much as i have been mostly of the opinion that if Bimby can’t develop his ‘tactics’ , i am not going to spend the off-season negative minded. So for my own football sanity, i’m backing Corica and giving him a chance to show what else he has in the bag.
(extended thoughts) I don’t blame following on from Arnold and keeping the system because it worked. The system hasn’t necessarily been the problem, but positional selection of players.
Other teams worked out our system long before we started going downhill, but our players were just too good to be overplayed.
Recruitment/covid caused season mess schedule etc etc…
His inability/time restrictions to change how we play, given we as Sydney are meant to attack all the time also have caused major issues/reasons for this seasons results.
There’s a multitude of variants from individuals, tactics, covid, injuries (Brattan) , even pressure of being SFC/fans to play like SFC.
There are many positives from the season too, in the case of a number of youngsters brought in. Hopefully this is followed up with actual proper game time.
Clean out was needed, it’s happened. Now is Coricas chance to prove himself. Many a manager would love to be in this position as a Sydney FC manager.
Since Corica is that man, for my own football sanity, i have to back him 100%.
