Corica is better than Arnie.
We will probably never get a better coach. Stop complaining.
This “1 Hidden Reply” is really winding you guys up.
And in 3 years he’s had the highest win percentage of an coach in the A-league, he’s won two grand finals, came 1st twice with another 2 second place finishes and an FFA cup. Why the hell should he change anything??? I mean it feels that unless he cures cancer, Corica will never stack up…
He’s literally the definition of don’t change it if it’s not broken
Sydney not going as well as they should be, corica needs to change something.
Keeps playing style the same and bring back our 2 best strikers.
That’s a change.
Also by modern football standards, Corica’s already had a long stint. His 3 years and 2 weeks in the job means that only three EPL managers have been in the job longer- Sean Dyche, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, and he has had a longer stint than all but 13 managers in the whole football league.
For me, and the reason that I have a bit of a go at Steve (without calling for him to leave), is that it has mostly seemed like what he’s doing is a managed decline of the peak Arnold team, rather than building anything significant, new or exciting. He has done an absolutely brilliant job of that and any employer would absolutely be insane to risk anything different - the league and world situation may make anything other than that unrealistic at this stage.
Season | Played | Pts | PPG |
---|---|---|---|
2016-17 | 27 | 66 | 2.44 |
2017-18 | 27 | 64 | 2.37 |
2018-19 | 27 | 52 | 1.93 |
2019-20 | 26 | 53 | 2.04 |
2020-21 | 25* | 44 | 1.76 |
This season we’ve come second with what to us looks a really low PPG, but provided we win our last match, will be close to bang on for 2nd place over this time. However this has really been salvaged by bringing back a couple of trusted old hands, rather than taking us somewhere new.
Still the last month and a bit with the old fellers coming back in has been a hell of a lot more fun.
For better perspective…
Worth noting that we were on track for our best ever PPG last season before the Covid break.
Also worth noting, for all the suggestion that Corica is still cruising on Arnie’s platform, that the only starters really remaining from Arnie’s reign are Redders (only played Arnie’s final year), Wilko, Grant and Ninko. Bobby of course left and came back.
I think it says a lot about our club structure that it feels like there’s been such continuity when there’s actually been a fair bit of turnover in the squad.
So much collective amnesia in this thread!
Since peak Arnie and then under Corica, we have lost among others:
(Vuka); Jordi B and Zullo (in effect);
Brillante, O’Neill and Adrian;
Brosque (last two seasons), Carney and Simon - and up until recently, Bobo. That is, most of Arnie’s squad was gone by Corica’s first season and very gone by season 2.
Those who remain from Arnie’s starting teams and still start:
Redders;
Grant and Wilko;
Ninko. So how is this still Arnie’s squad and not Bimbi’s??
Those whom Corica has brought here: McGowan; Brattan, ABJ, Alf and Kosta - and Bobo back now.
Those whom Corica has promoted to regular starting positions: King, Retre, Caceres - and hopefully, Hof.
Caceres is a Bimbi acquisition and never played for Arnie. Initially on loan 18/19 up until the GF in Perth, then signed permanently for us.
But do we have to be so pedestrian!
I don’t want to just win. I want to win with style. I want to crush and destroy the oppo!
I ain’t no Spirit fan happy to win a participation award.
But it’ll be aces If we win the GF.
Fuck, I sound like a wanker Celtic fan …
You gave the answer right there. Ninko. Milos. He overshadows everything.
Fixed it for you…
I mean in reality, it’s Ninko’s squad isn’t it?
Always was…
Fine, thanks, I just did this from memory. Even more so then that this squad is almost entirely Bimbi’s creation.
I don’ think we will be pedestrian now that we have goal scorers in our attack. Goals we score don’t just change games, they change how teams approach each game we are in.
The biggest issue is that Bobo only scores tap-ins… Which don’t count. Plus, I find Corica culpable with the fact that there’s still been no discussion behind the reasons of Janko’s departure and the possibility of beer holders in the new stadium
Fuck yanko.
I demand an inquiry into Cazarine 's depature
