Inform them that company safety uniforms include buckets

The Joeys shaming themselves last night with a biscotto.

It takes two to tango but is pathetic.

I’m going to say something potentially naive and stupid here (and I should also point out I am in no way in favour of IFAB continually fiddling with things like the handball rule), but…

Is this crying out for some kind of rule to prevent this?

Like “a team in possession of the ball in their own half has (insert reasonable time here) to progress the ball past the halfway line, except if there are opposing players past halfway”.

The last bit ensures that a team being heavily pressed in their own half doesn’t fall foul of the rule.

I haven’t spent any time thinking about this, so I’m sure there’s an obvious problem with such a rule, but it just seems like something that could be dealt with by th LOTG?

I am not really bothered by this sort of thing if there is 5 mintues to go… but 20? Holy shit… what were the coaches doing? Having a cigar and scotch together?

Surely both teams need to be penalised? Is there such a thing as bringing the game into disrepute?

Get used to it.
The abolition of the 4 teams per group at the World Cup means we’ll be seeing more of it.

Not sure there’s much you can do about it. Even if there was a time limit on holding the ball in your own half they’d just boot the ball down to the opposing defenders every minute.

They confirmed last year that it will be staying as 4 team groups in the World Cup.

Ok yes it’s crap on the Joey’s but how is the opposition not to blame for allowing them to do this? If you’re playing against a team parking the bus, you want to draw them out. Looking at the table, Joey’s were through in top spot unless Indonesia beat them, so the onus should be on Indonesia wanting to win the game.

It’s worth pointing out everyone bitching and whinging about that passage of play, yet ignoring the fact that the beat North Mariana Islands 17-0 and Kuwait 3-1. They obviously know what they’re doing and they’ve topped their group.

Yeah, its not suddenly going to stop because we’re whingeing about it, but I reckon there’d be some odd betting patterns in these kind of fixtures.

I remember back in the 2018 World Cup that Denmark and France only needed a draw in the last game to qualify from our group. I’m no gambler by any means, but I was seriously considering putting $100 on a 0-0 draw in that game because I knew this would happen. I’m sure there would’ve been a bunch of people who actually did carry it out and made a $600+ profit on it.

It’s a valid tactic against sides with their first line sitting 10m inside their own half

Yeah that was the Joey’s just trying to bait the press so they could get in behind. I see no foul play. Play on ref.

Football in Queensland is falling apart, don’t know if anyone is paying attention.

Football Queensland announced that they have made an agreement to takeover the roar under 23 side, play a Queensland academy under 16s in their place.

Gold coast knights came out with a wtf statement, saying it’s not appropriate to enter a team in a competition that you run etc

FQ issued them a notice and then most other big clubs in Qld came out backing the knights.

I mean they’re not wrong. It’s a fairly big conflict of interest for them to run their own team

Oh I agree, it’s also dodgy because now the administration is running a football team for the roar.

Apparently they made a rule in the past that roars NPL couldn’t be relegated as well.

It would also seem irresponsible to run an u16’s team in an u23’s competition?

Yeah, I understand the whole playing up thing.
But there are only a few under 16s that are going to be physical enough.

This football academy thing seems to be the latest scam going around.

Football WA are doing the same thing, entering an academy side into the JDL.

All the other clubs are asking wtf is going on.

Tell us something we don’t know.

I like the Auckland 3.0 dig.

I’d contend that if its falling apart, it assumes its not in a million pieces already!
