Qatar 2022: A slave to Blatter

Good to see Qatar getting smashed on and off the field.

I’d like to see every player of both teams put a One Love armband on and see what happens. Will FIFA really risk a game being abandoned just because of their ridiculous edict?

None of the team captains will be wearing the armbands now

It’d be great if the captains put them on when they know they’re going out of the tournament so the yellow won’t count for anything.

Was just thinking that. “Well, they can’t ban everybody”.

But then I realized that it’s FIFA, and they regularly do whatever the fuck they like and to hell with the consequences, of which there will be none because they’ll throw money at it until it goes away

I’ll take back every bad word I’ve ever said about Alireza Faghani if he has the stones to wear one himself. Imagine a referee giving it the bigguns :fu: to FIFA / Qatar.

Unlike the players he would be cancelling his own career.

Sometimes you have to wear the consequences to send a message & a yellow card is a pretty tame one at that. If you back down from wearing the armband because you’ll get a card you’re pretty gutless in my book. Hope Matty Ryan wears that and something for workers solidarity on the other arm.

I may be overly optimistic but I feel like this tournament will finally be the beginning of the end for FIFA as we know it. I don’t see the big clubs tolerating this situation for long. FIFA are doing a lot of damage to football’s reputation, particularly right now, and I don’t see most of the world’s biggest clubs taking kindly to the game, and more specifically their own brand, being dragged all the way to hell thanks to FIFA. Sure, you might get the likes of PSG staying put for obvious reasons, but I could see the ESL get another huge push over the next few years after this World Cup fiasco.

And probably a lot more. Do you think a referee would be protected the same way a global superstar footballer would?

The time for not reading the room, no matter your strength or power politically or financially, is over. The vote to give Russia and Qatar the World Cup was the beginning of the end for FIFA. This is just hastening the process.

Hisense with their ties to the CCP and visit Qatar are broadcasting sponsors for SBS. Fozzie seems cool with that I guess

Kane wearing a no discrimination arm band

Damn the Iranian keeper just accidentally smashed his defender

That’s a really nasty collision

That looked painful

They can probably stop showing a million replays of it too

Should there be separate threads for the individual games? Maybe one per group? Leaving this to be general grievances against the farcical and immoral hosting of this tournament?

And in a world first, a middle eastern player goes down with an actual not faked injury.

How on earth is he allowed to stay on the field?
