Yeah, I don’t get how Uffy wouldn’t have seen Lolley was done after 70. I kept my fingers crossed that he didn’t injure himself because of trying too hard when he was spent. Can’t believe that he waited till 88th-90th minute to bring on the last changes, especially when they had lots of fresh legs
Also it was ace to see us attacking the Cove end in the 2nd half. Not happened much this season. Either Grant is not winning many tosses, or he’s winning them and then making daft calls!
We have a game Wednesday, then again Saturday. Absolutely ridiculous to keep him out there - was easily his flattest game thus far, didn’t do too much (albeit did play the 1-2 with caceres for the second goal). Should have been pulled at 60.
Yeah i saw that too. Occured to me how good the bond is between the young guys in our squad. Kucharski for example was clearly delighted for him, never mind being annoyed at not playing, here he was showing love to a team mate whos had a rough time of it of late. Great to see.
Important to appreciate these young guys for as long as we have them.
Well deserved, too. Wood gets stick for being a rather limited player but he combined fantastically there.
My feeling about the game is that it will probably be the last time we see Mark Jackson do the “we’ll do fuck all and wait for them to make a mistake” thing against us. They were lucky to get a goal, really. They didn’t do much else and gave little indication they were going to get a second.
I noticed that as well. We played it VERY safe the first 60 mins or so. Once we got the second goal, it felt like we started to press significantly harder and higher up. Defence seemed a bit more settled, potentially Grant in the middle isn’t the worst thing. He managed to get them decently organised for once, although there probably wasn’t the usual pressure that we’d get from other teams.
Tbh I thought they were playing through our press with relative ease, at least until Sainsbury tripped on the ball in the lead up to our third (Sega still did supremely well muscling up against Kaltak, forcing him to cough it up to Woody, but that didn’t arise from a concerted team pressing situation).
first half yes, but midway through second half we noticeably got much more aggressive with it particularly on kaltak and the fullbacks - pressing seemed to be front 3 alot more in unison than just klimala trying to shut down keeper, cb or fullbacks
We definitely didn’t have a hard press in the first half. Not even close to what we had in the second, and what we were doing a few weeks ago. We were more steady and allowed them to come into our half before shutting them down. They honestly didn’t have too much in them in the first half and were relying on a rusty defence to make the mistakes.
Once we started the harder press in the second half, they were making mistakes all over the place. You can see the difference in their passing and how many times we got the ball turned over due to mistakes by CCM
