Round 14 - Australia's Shame vs Sydney FC - 26/1/24

Can the APL make some of these referees redundant as well?

Watch a leg breaker happen to us and VAR not get involved

Shit decision in the women’s game and now this. Fuck Melbourne.

They haven’t before. Why would they start now?

And why would they start even educating referees properly when they could’ve even directed an even minute portion of the $40m+ they pissed down the drain for KeepUp?

At least we’re more likely to score with Pat Wood off the pitch.

Time to go back to them actually explaining the decision over the coverage, make them justify their decision live so they can be called out

Can’t imagine why people are sick of this bullshit.

It’s the same as the decision the other night.
The VAR is looking at the point of contact and basing their decision on that without referring back to the guidance that says careless=yellow, reckless=red.
Very few of these VAR initiated reds this season have been reckless.

At least they’re being consistent but it doesn’t make the decision correct.

Real hard call between the Wood red and Whyman penalty for worst decision of the day.

They also pause it on the contact when the ref goes over instead of having it playing in full speed so naturally they go oh well red but that’s also happening all around the world

It’s legit ruining the sport worldwide because everyone is just sick of it

They did seem to play it several times in full speed when he was looking at it

In the words of Syrian football fans everywhere.

We demand a fucking investigation!

Yes after the initial pause on the contact so the ref is already leaning one way

But does it happen as often around the world as it does here? Really you only have to look at recent weeks when there were some absolutely putrid decisions on handballs, on challenges like this that are suddenly magically a red card because someone’s foot hit someone else’s leg.

I said earlier this is a crisis. The APL have to take this seriously if they don’t want to drive fans away in droves. Loyal fans of this sport, and its players, deserve a lot better than this shit.

I’d love to know how they rationalise that decision.

Serious foul play
A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Here’s the trick - they won’t have to…

Yes it is, la liga and prem are basically on fire weekly this season due to it

I’m just threatening Paramount with cancelling my sub.

It’s all I have.

I was all for getting Patty Wood off the field as quickly as possible but not like that.
