Round 14 - Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar

I think the crux of THIS game, is that we all probably would have taken a loss if Talay had actually rotated the squad. If we had Lolley, Senna, Caceres on the bench, with anyone else jumping to slot in, I would have accepted it as a necessary evil in order to give the players a break. The fact that he’s pushed on with the same team is one of the biggest issues.

Big Blue Man time?

I’d take Farina back before Rudan.

While I agree with you, if that had happened, and we had rotated heavily for this and lost - then everyone would be crying out for Talay to play the big names…

More an issue for me is he should have rotated regularly throughout this period, made earlier subs and made sure of a more even split of minutes through the four games. Give me 60 minutes of Lolley and 30 of JK against Wellington and then 60 of JK and 30 of Lolley against Brisbane than 178 of Lolley and 2 of JK… that fucking madness

I do agree with that as well. More so, we would have all been ok with a single loss in this period, that stemmed from rotation is the point. He should have rotated earlier or subbed earlier for sure, especially against Wellington. That was probably the biggest loss of opportunity there

Yep, we don’t necessarily need wholesale rotation, just normal subs when we have a capable bench for any of the front six. ie using subs at 60-70 minutes would make a big difference versus subbing at 88-90+ minutes…. Especially during a period where we know we are playing four games in succession.

Then Uffy throws everyone under the bus complaining they were lethargic.

He’s also then forced into abrupt changes like yanking off players at half time because we’re being overrun.

I don’t think I could ever support a football club coached by that POS

New motivational technique?

I was almost tempted to go for one myself at half time to get the blood flowing so to speak. That first half was hard going

More cliches in that interview than a fucking Dolmio ad.

Whilst I definitely agree with most of this that its recruitment and tactics - if we’ played a deeper defence line we might be better off even if that blunts the attack a bit- theres no way Klimala deserves a heap of criticism. Hes a goal poacher- and hes got 5 goals 1 assist in 12 games. Thats a goal involvement every second game. We’ve just been far too spoiled with many years of Bobo and ALF at 9.

Cant judge a striker when we play one up front, very few look good doing that formation, there is a quality striker there but formation is making him look terrible,

Yeah, I think people are being harsh on Klimala. Yes, he’s been offside a lot, but many have been decent runs, but we’ve been too slow to get the ball to him in time. Others have been very marginal offsides that he’s put away well, but called back on VAR.

Yes, there’s been a couple where a dodgy first touch or a header has meant a lost opportunity, but I don’t think there is a striker in the comp that is not guilty of that.

He also puts in a fair shift on the press and dummy runs, which gives others like Lolley more opportunities to score

And we just moved up to 5th on Goal Diff after the Cowbells lost to Welly.
We are not in a too bad position.
