Round 24 - Sydney FC vs Newcastle - 20/4/25

On a weekend away with the Mrs and had to miss this one. Any kind of send off for Redders at all?

A short pregame presentation similar to the players who reach the 200 etc appearance mark. Guard of honour from both teams.

Massive thanks to the team, who ran themselves into the ground and Uffy thought it was good to leave them to wilt while he teased them with players warming up. Then, when he finally decided to make a change, he used two windows with Holman then Kamijo, then we had to use our last one when Holman got injured.

Everyone was just booting the ball away - it was like watching the U12s defend a lead.

Massive credits to Rhyan Grant, who dug so deep to make last ditch tackles and back up to give JK an assist.

Brickbats to Poppa and King, who made it such a challenge…

Funny thing, in the end we forgot the playing the ball out and Redders may have been the better keeper for today’s set up.

Very frustrating win, and class from Costa, Sega and Grant keeps Uffy in a job

Grant with two assists keeping me in the fantasy title hunt.

Two more shitty rounds to go…

Quite disappointed that I was the only one around me to uffy out after both goals.

ABOURCONNED needs to play more often!

Honestly disgusting that Redders didnt get a run on. The club pushes it’s last home game and doesnt even let him end it on the pitch. Fucked to the extreme, especially after Arnold turning this club around and making it into a family as much as a club. All that work to develop a legacy just shat on with a few years

With any luck, Arnold will return next season and start to set that right again.

Was everyone on a goal bonus today? Some of the decision making was appalling, taking impossible pot shots at goal when simple passes were present. So shit to watch.
Amazing shift from Rhyno, with Caceras and Costa close behind.

Club legend Bluemayne fighting back tears during the interview… I hope he is involved with the club in some capacity in the future.

At one point HDM sent a goal kick out into touch and a single tear went down my face; such a fitting tribute to Redmayne.

Yeah this. I get we were holding onto a lead and Redders hasnt played for a while but it still just gives a really bad taste that he didnt start or at least get subbed on.

I said the same thing when it happened!

Yeah, bear the end that was. I mentioned the tribute to Tedders to my wife as it was just after Kooch had gone to celebrate with our #1

The Uffy Outers would do well to prepare for disappointment as both Corica and Farina were given contract extensions after failing to make the final six. And in both cases their seasons were poorer than this one. While we don’t want to see Premier League level knee jerk reactions to a poor run we do seem to massively overcompensate

At least Corica had some runs on the board and Farina was probably given a chance given the 2012-13 season started so poorly. Does Talay have an excuse that I can’t think of right now?

I couldn’t see the match live but just saw it then. As if you can let LA Guns score against you and keep your job. I don’t care if we won the match or not

Trying to read what is written on a tifo or banner from the back side is difficult, so after figuring out the first banner said “Thank you Redders”, not gonna lie I was disappointed when the second one didn’t say “Talay out”.

It’s hard to make one off comparisons a decade apart, but while the vibe around Farina was far worse, Uffie does seem a worse coach to me. The decisions he makes are just plain weird. The management of minutes is appalling. He could use the two competitions as a great way to manage both the egos and the minutes, but failed to take advantage, meaning tired legs, and top-heavy lineups with resulting paucity on the bench and insufficient minutes for key young players.
