5 mins et in the first half today feels like a war crime.
Can Lolley tackle? He’d make a good wingback.
That pass was ……quite something
We lifted after the goal but that speaks to a real mentality problem. The heads dropped after we went two goals down and no one was trying until Costa pulled out a goal from nothing.
Lolley is so toothless playing as a lwb - utterly ridiculous
Defensively we are woeful… we are just fortunate that Newcastle are shite
Costa handing his jersey to Eli Adams as they were walking off lmao.
The team is going through the motions man.
Notes I gathered from eavesdropping on Klimala. He picked up a knock at training yesterday, he’s not sure if he’s staying beyond this season and he’s not a fan of switching to a back 5 this late in the season.
Nary a midfield in sight.
I am absolutely stunned that the tactics that didn’t work midweek also don’t work against stronger opposition.
Definitely not playing like a team who care that their season is on the line.
Lack of midfield is comically bad - I feel for caceras as he’s seemingly having to do four jobs at once… none of which are his natural game
Highlight was when the midfield of attacking midfielder Caceres and attacking midfielder Anas were bypassed and Talay got up and shouted asking where a player was to shut it down. GOOD QUESTION, WHO MADE THE LINE UP CHAMP.
Hahaha, amazing how there’s no one to protect the backline when you have five # 10’s in front.
There nothing sweet about Lolley at LWB
FWIW. I think the back three and box midfield could suit our squad.
You do still need to put players in the right positions though. And yeah, it might have been better to identify the problem, like, 4 or 5 months ago.
Yeah, gotta feel for Caceres. He’s been made to play as the only defensive mid when he has the worst back 5 in SFC history and a bunch of #10s in Ouahim, Sega and Costa who think defending is optional. I Love Lolley, but he doesn’t naturally come back to cover his midfield all the way to the box, so he was missing at the goal.
We just can’t really play a back 5 without a natural #6 linking it up… very unfair on Caceres, who then gets caught too far back doing his sideward dribbles while the defence gets re-set.
At least Sena had the vision to play an incisive forward pass, but we’ve lost that option now. It’s the old doughnut formation at the moment and Newcastle is thriving on it.
Those goals conceded were utterly embarrassing. If they retain talay then there is no hope next season.
The one good thing about things as they stand is that at least we don’t have to put up with losing to Wests or Australia’s shame in the semis
Playing a panicked back 5 is what you do in junior football when you are 5 nil down to stop the bleeding.
Is living on a prayer a fuckin piss take?
