You’d have to think that their sponsorship is pretty good value for money - it’s become such a part of their identity.

Really feel for the staff at the Mariners. They work hard and always come up with innovative stuff like this.
Like the football department they are so under resourced and have to work in an environment where the team has been shit for five seasons.
For the first time in my life I wish I was a mascot.
They’ve done well here. Quirkiness is bang on for the A League, and it’s quite well made. It is a rip off of the Panda ads from Egypt (I think), but it’s done well.

The following was posted by a Mariners fan who has maintained email contact with Mike Charlesworth. Apparently Charlesworth follows the social media postings about the Club in which there have been many “frank” posts of late.
Charlesworth has listened and responded. He would like to clear up a couple of things.
** He has been virtually funding the club for close to 10 years now, not 6*
** He has been seeking investment/funding for the same period and it is obviously difficult/impossible *
** If there is a clear consensus he is not wanted he will spend his limited funds elsewhere*
Things will possibly come to a head soon. Obviously what is going on can no longer continue.
Interesting times indeed.

I doubt any of the fans want him to spit the dummy and walk away if it means the club leaves the coast. At the same time they deserve to be able to ask what the hell is going on and expect some reasonable answers from him.
I’d hate to see the club leave the coast, they’ll never get another one. But Charlesworth can’t keep it going like it is. He’s crippling it and dangling the fact that he’ll let it go elsewhere as soon as the fans question him.
