Squad speculation thread 2020/21

I’m reading at this stage it’s only us who have an agreement, and the rest of the HAL is still pending the CBA. Given we’re usually 15 points clear I assume they’ll all get their shit together in another 5 weeks.

Boo at the bottom
Sydney’s star English striker Adam Le Fondre has not returned to training ahead of a likely move to the Indian Super League.

He could be going to play Big Bash 20/20 in the IPL ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe he has not returned due to quarantine coming into Australia (I don’t know if McGowan has come home yet?)

Bad news for those still holding out that he wasnt gone:

Was an incredible signing seemed a great guy too. Very sad to see him gone.

Best wishes to ALF. He’s been an absolute gem.

“I’ve had two fantastic years here at Sydney FC and have cherished every moment of my life in Australia,” he said.

“We’ve had an unbelievable group of players over the last two seasons and a squad of great people. I will miss them all hugely.

“I’d also like to say a massive thanks to the club for considering mine and my family’s future and allowing me to make this move, as well as every single Sydney FC Member for their support during my time at the club. They were amazing and I hope they will remember me fondly.”

The Sky Blues will receive a loan fee for the striker and hope to be able to conclude a deal for a replacement shortly.

I trust that last part about the club hoping to be able to finalise a deal for a replacement. They’ve had a good track record of recruiting good players.

Damn it. Maybe this Central American link has some legs then.

I doubt we’ll see another striker as good as ALF for quite some time, coupled with someone who seems like a genuinely good bloke. Best of luck to him.

If they had sorted this out a week earlier we could have gotten Cavani

Cavani is a good idea on the surface however seeing as though as he one of my favourite ever players me walking around 24/7 in an aroused state would have been most undignified.

Hope we got a juicy loan fee for him.

Great, now my kid is going to cry tonight when I tell him his favourite non-Brosque footballer has left the club.

I guess looking at the brighter side, perhaps we can bring in a striker with a bit more height this time?

BOBO!

Thiam time

This calls for an elaborate ruse you concoct to make it look like to your child Alfie is still at the club for the next year. Doctored match reports and highlights clips, assurances that Alfie has had plastic surgery that make shim look different (i.e. like Buhagiar etc).

Another Adrian level bargain with Alfie. Getting a loan fee is great business.

With the quality drop next year I would love a Frank Lampard style “trust the kids” campaign with Tomic/Trent replacing him.

Not entirely crazy, apart from the age (though he never had pace to lose). According to Transfermarkt his contract in the Brazilian second tier expires in January, which would line him up to start the season if the rumoured February start date goes ahead.

Have friends call him in a British accent for a chat with Alf, or even hire a 25 body actors, put them into team jerseys and have them simulate games. If you use a grainy enough recorder, he’ll never know the difference!

He’ll have to set up his router to limit the download speeds so that videos all start playing in exclusively low res…
