Gonna have to pack a boogie board bag full of cheap headphones for that away trip.

Yeah if I had to guess it is NPL1 standard although I’ve only seen a couple of matches. It was enjoyable enough watch at the ground. The SPL actually have a YouTube channel where they show most of the matches live

Some interesting stadiums too.
Newish Our Tampines Hub (OTH) near the airport, a 5k seater built within a mall of sorts containing library, public pools, offices and food outlets.

Pots for ACL2 discussed here

Draw on 16-Aug.

No pots for the ACLE as it’s a single group for East and West.
Draw mechanics still haven’t been announced but believe that it will be structured so you don’t play anyone from own country in your 8 games.
So for the Korean and Japanese team (each with 3 spots) you’d just select one team you don’t play. (And possibly same for China at 2 plus the playoff)

Draw mechanics for ACLE

Confirms that country protection will exist.

So best case for Mariners is they end up in a group in the Draw Grid with either 3 Japanese or 3 Korean teams, which means they don’t play those teams.

And final ACLE Qual game about to start

Shandong Taishan progresses to the ACLE in a 4-3 penalty shootout, after it was 1-1 at FT and after ET.

Bangkok United takes the final spot in ACL2.

Also appears that one of the Vietnamese clubs has withdrawn after players threatened to strike.

And has been replaced by another Thai club Muangthong United. Was initally offered to BG Pathum United but they rejected it due to an already tight schedule.

Well, I for one look forward to us bombing out in the group stage and embarrassing Australian football yet again.

I’ll be on Webjet the minute after the draw looking at options, I’m keen as for an ACL(2) away trip.

My only other ACL away trip was Kashima Antlers in 2011, and although I went to Japan anyway, obviously the game did not happen as scheduled.

I want to do an ACL away trip where I actually see a game.

Why let a football game spoil an otherwise perfectly good away trip?

Was in the same situation, luckily in Kyoto and far away from the carnage in 2011.

Remedied that by finally getting to Kashima away in 2018, though was forced to endure the ultimate shame of celebrating a Matt Simon goal on foreign soil.

I’m another one in the 2011 cancel boat. Will be good to finally right the wrong.

It was still a good week there, caught up with old friends and colleagues, but naturally weird as well, I remember no advertising was allowed on TV, so it was just the same loop of public service announcements all day including one featuring Ivica Osim, I guess related to awareness of stroke symptoms.

That AC jingle is burned into my brain.

And in the ACLE CCM end up in the pot with the South Korean teams, so don’t play the 3 SK teams in the league stage
Instead
3x Japan teams (1 home, 2 away)
3x China teams (1 home, 2 away)
1x Thai (home)
1x Malaysian (home)

Probably about as good of a draw as they could get particularly with home games against the Thai and Malaysian teams.
