They rotated lots of kids in the game then put on some first 11 players later on. Depleted squad and all that from what i understand because of injuries etc.
Tamworth pitch being artificial and not fully level… home crowd etc… all that.
You’d still think they would have scored earlier but bus parking from any team as shown in the past to many premier league teams can be a tough challenge.
Yeah, as per. They have done fantastically well, and keep it simple and thus avoid errors, but they are a very negative team. Punters at the City ground have had a great time of it this season, but as entertainment, they are probably spending 30 odd minutes a week waiting for goal kicks, throw ins etc to be taken.
And Chris Wood is an absolute marvel. I struggle to get my head around the fact that between him, Ryan Nelsen and Winnie Reid, NZ have had a far more significant (ie players who actually play for their teams) presence in the EPL than Australia for at least 15 years.
Forest are 13th for goals scored, equal second for goals conceded per game with Liverpool, they have the most clean sheets, but the best stat, they are last for average possession with 39%
I haven’t seen a lot of them this season, mostly just marvelling at Chris Wood highlights, but wouldn’t say they were negative this morning. Low block, yes. Compact and organised, yes. But they had intent when they won it in certain areas and always looked dangerous going forward. More “Atleti under Simeone” than “dour Jose Mourinho”.
Gave me Leicester title winning vibes and I don’t recall anyone bemoaning their style back then (granted all the big boys had a gap year at the same time which opened the door). You have to be tough to beat first and they certainly managed that. Already knew about Wood, a resurgent Elanga and the two hyphens in their front four, but was most impressed with the two 6’s and their backline. Neco had Salah in his pocket all night.
Don’t think they took the piss with time-wasting either, despite Slot apparently complaining about it in the first half already. It was really only the last 10 minutes where they showed less intent and settled for the draw, understandable after Jota Gold had equalised and Liverpool started to get on top drawing a few good saves from Sels.
