The wife and I had a 4 year wedding anniversary on Thursday last week. Celebrated by taking the kids to the beach (North Wollongong) for the first time on Saturday. Absolutely gorgeous day for it too. Kids had a blast.
My daughter is looking like she’s going to be the water baby. She loves swimming, and even had a bunch of fun playing in the waves (with me holding her). She also loves being buried in the sand.
My son isn’t so water keen at the moment, but hoping that changes in the coming months/years.
With such a successful beach day, looks like it’s going to be a fun upcoming summer.
My youngest rolled for the first time over the weekend. The wife has been freaking out as she’s 6 months old (almost 7) and hasn’t done so. The little one is in a type of Pavlic Brace overnight, which could cause that, but the Early Childhood Centre suggested a physio for her. Thank god the orthopaedic surgeon we saw talked her out of it.
Little one is also well into the solids now. Funnily enough isn’t the biggest fan of purees, but if you give her something solid like a corn cob, will absolutely demolish it. We’re slowly getting to the age were she’s getting more and more interactive. Had a good moment last night whether the older child was getting massive laughs out of the younger one. Definitely a heart-warming moment.
So finally bit the bullet and bought tickets to take my 7 year old to his first game for the game v WSW. Ended up with nose bleeds, up in Bay430 but doesnt matter (I should have bought earlier in the week). At least we will stay dry.
I live out west so will be driving in - so any suggestions with kids?? - I was going to park down near where I work in Kensington and catch the tram but maybe parking closer is the right thing to so - not sure
Anyway, excitied. Decided to leave my 4 year old at home as he decided that WSW have the same colours as Mile Morales and wants to support them lol!
Very randomly, last time I was there with the nephews, the youngest (5) ended up with a heavy nose bleed by the end of the game. When I went to get ice, the bar tender said that he’d had to give out a whole load of ice for the same reason.
I was trying to get him all hyped to go to the game by showing them youtube clips of past games when he said that he liked the red and black team because they are the same colours as Miles Morales… a very four year old thing to say.
My 7 year old told him that the word Wanderers was an ‘f-word’ in our house - so that is good.
I kinda of understand that - but if you showed up with your kid with a bloody face asking for ice you would think they’d give it to your out of basic First Aid understanding - and that you’re not going to use the ice as a weapon to hurl at an opposition player.
Having said that, Stadiums are VERY strict about their RSA.
We have just had new Neighbours move in a couple of days ago, and their daughter came up to me as I was coming home from work and pointed out the Sydney FC membership stickers on the boot of my car, and said she was a Wanderers member.
Should we win, perhaps I’ll stand in the backgarden when I come home from the game (very drunk) and just sing Forza Sydney FC until dawn.
Hanging with my 8 year old the other day and he randomly just started booing. I turned around and we were in front of a Wanderer branded sun shade. Hes a good one.
Also on Miles Morales, I reckon my 3 year old would be similar but luckily he’s obsessed with hammers, and by association Thor.
Happy to report my 7 year old’s first SFC game was a roaring success - he had an amazing time, the nosebleed seats were actually great as we could see everything and were right on the 6 yard box at the Cove end. He was singing cove songs on the way home which is basically a dream come true right
Also, for probably the first time ever, even more so with it being a derby loss, I actually left the stadium with not a care in the world for the result - my boy didn’t give a hoot that Sydney lost, he was just happy to have gone and was excited to tell his Wanderer friends at school that he was there. Is already asking when we can go again. We will be going to the Macarthur game with Mac supporting family members, so I think that is going to brilliant for him - will try for ‘better’ seats as he is now busting to get a photo with ‘The Wiggle’ and Lolley.
Also, anyone got any idea is you can sign up for you kid to be a mascot that walks onto the field with the players?
My 15 yo has never been anything other than vaguely interested in Sydney FC, until I took him to derby last season.
He went to his first game by himself (well, took one mate, but went without me) on the weekend. Organised to get the train from Canberra, stay at his grandparents etc.
He was absolutely elated. Stood on the edge of the Cove and sang himself hoarse. Got home on Sunday arvo and still hasn’t stopped raving about it.
I caught him watching YouTube clips of Kevin Muscat worst tackles. Just about brought a tear to my eye.
He still hasn’t actually witnessed us score a goal live, at the football stadium.
It’s funny with my 3 year old. She knows I like Star Wars and raves on and on and on about how much she loves Star Wars to, despite the fact that she’s never actually seen it apart from a Star Wars bedspread and 3 books. Yet every time I talk about how much I love Soccer, she couldn’t care less, up to the extent that she’ll cry if I try and watch it on TV.
Although in her defence, I’ve been on the verge of crying watching SFC play as well…
My oldest was the same with Star Wars, still is - having only every really watched a new hope and a bunch of SW cartoons and lego stuff. He bought the first three as comics just a few weeks ago with some money he had… all because I bought him a R2 plush once and he knows how much I like SW.
He likes football, plays it and all that - but he is still the same when I put it on TV, gets very restless after about 5 minutes and starts suggesting things like ninja turtles etc.
