We had our little guy arrive yesterday morning, two weeks early but he’s a really good weight and is a happy little man. First baby for us, so it is exciting (and slightly daunting). Time to sort out his membership .
congratulations!!! It’s the hardest but greatest thing you’ll ever do!
Our little one is almost 5 months but if you need tips or anything let us know, happy to help!
Congrats mate, your greatest journey begins.
Congratulations to you all!
Spent a good chunk of the last couple of weeks working towards getting the training wheels off for the eldest. Running in the rain at right angles trying to get his confidence up,taking pedals and wheels off like im in the Sky Support team.
He went out for a walk with mum today and just took off like he’d been doing it for years…Dunno if I should laugh or cry
That’s because of the confidence you spent the last couple of weeks instilling in him. Good job dad!
Any tips for getting my little one onto solids? She’s shown interest in food and we’ve given her sweet potato for two days and then carrots for two days after but it seems like she doesn’t like the taste of either. I know we need to expect gagging etc while she learns how to eat, but it actually looks like she’s disgusted. Is that a fairly normal reaction to eating first time, or should we try to look at different foods?
Give them some food to eat on their own, like finger food. They will munch on that a bit and you should be able to get the other stuff going inbetween.
I think that’s what the wife will be doing next. She let her play around with the carrot, but she enjoyed squishing it more than anything else. In fairness, we started giving her food the day after she showed her first interest (opening her mouth when it was in front of her), so we may have slightly rushed.
Are they generally not meant to enjoy the taste of most foods at first? Or do they take to it fairly quickly? We also tried mixing in a bit of formula to help the taste.
Some kids go nuts for solid food and others hate it.
They should slowly get the hang of it.
Like most stuff it’s just keep trying until something works
We’re going through this at the moment with the youngest though hes right up for it. Just go slow and let them lead. We put a splash of puree on his high chair table and let him work through it. He loved pumpkin and potato but hated banana… pear gave him a massive tummy ache. Every kid is different though
How old is she?
First night at home by myself with the little guy (5 weeks old). I encouraged my wife to have dinner with some friends, really glad she has done it - great for her sanity!
So far, so good. I’ve told him he better behave himself from 9:20pm tonight
Just make sure you don’t shout too loud at the TV if you get him down and then wake him straight up it’ll just ruin the game
I’ll try!
6 months now
My 3 year old is going through my old vinyl records. He knows how to take them out, place them on the turntable & play them. In keeping with tradition of getting my children to do menial jobs such as hosing the driveway he has to wipe down every record after he plays it. Kids are great.
At the moment he has been playing Beastie Boys - Paul’s Boutique on repeat. He loves the song “Egg Man” .
Great taste, the kid has a bright future
Just had the week from hell. Last week Saturday, daughter woke up vomiting, didn’t think anything of this as she sometimes does and she ate pretty heavy that day. Was fine the next morning (which was her christening day). Lasted well through the church but then had explosive diarrhea on the way to the restaurant. Cleaned her up and she was ok, just a bit out of it throughout the function. On the way home, she’s vomited formula everywhere, then blasted another poo when my wife was changing her. Turns out it’s gastro, which meant that 40 of our guests ended up with gastro including ourselves.
On top of that, she’s teething, so she had diarrhea from that. She’s slowly recovering but now has a decent cold which means she’s struggling to breathe when she sleeps. Don’t think i’ve had a proper sleep at night for a week or so…
