The Seria A Thread

Unless there was trouble behind the scenes, that is a really poor way to treat a club legend. Not given a chance to turn it around.

We’ve pulled off our first derby win in 7 goes this morning. Played really well too. Looks like they’ve all had the fear of God put into them considering how shyte we’ve been lately. Hope a corner has been turned.

Another loss for Roma at the weekend against Fiorentina, and although it’s still early days for Juric there is a lot of anger from the tifosi for the poor performances especially around the players who were let go.

I’ve not been able to watch many games yet this season, but the squad is looking incredibly poor and low in depth this season.

I’ve watched hardly any but getting rid of De Rossi really set the tone for the season.

My girlfriend is refusing to watch games because of the way they treated De Rossi.

Mancini left his Saudi post. Wonder if we’ll go for him?

Though given his Lazio history, can’t see fans accepting him.

Bologna v Milan postponed on the weekend due to Bologna being underwater & to be played later on in the season.

Conspiracy theory is that the Bologna mayor called it off because he’s friends with the Napoli chairman whom Milan are playing this week & we have played suspended. The Napoli chairman supposedly asked the Bologna mayor to postpone so those players wouldn’t be available for the Napoli game. Heh.

For the Italian speakers here… Recommendations for Italian-language football podcasts? Ideally for Roma, but Serie A would be fine too.

Really trying to improve my Italian. I’m probably at intermediate level (B1 was the last level I studied). I know enough to get by but would like to listen to a podcast on a subject I have a real interest in!

Yet another defeat for Roma overnight and Juric has been sacked. No replacement has been named yet but it will be the 4th manager for this calendar year.

The club is an absolute shambles at the moment.

AC Milan drawing/losing to Cagliari after defeating Real Madrid was as inevitiable as the sun rising.

Maurizio Zamparini would be proud of this record.

I don’t think Zamparini would even touch Juric, who has the distinction of being the worst coach Roma has had for the last 20 years (W4 D3 L5 in all competitions with a GD of -2). The team itself should be doing better but are just 4 points away from the relegation zone. Friedkin out.

And now we’ve gone back to Ranieri. I love the bloke but just shows what a shambles the club is. 4th manager of 2024.

That’s his 7th management gig in 7 years. In fact since 1986 his managed 23 different teams, surely that’s starting to get up to journeyman numbers? Post Chelsea, he’s never stayed for longer than 2 years at a club

France too good. They squeezed us out of the game from the get go. Old man Deschamps got it 100% right.

Look for these three on Spotify or which ever audio program you use: Rasoiate, Fontana Di Trevi, La Riserva.

If you download a radio app, look for Radio Sportiva, which is a 24h sports station, but mainly for Italian football. They have a daily show and then it just repeats itself over the course of the next 24 hours.

If you are looking for any particular club then it’s best hitting up channels on YouTube.

Some signs of life for Roma under Ranieri. Thought they did okay against Tottenham.

I follow Spurs as well in the Premier league so happy with the result!
