The TV Show Thread

The new version of the Day of the Jackal looks pretty good so far. They have pumped a lot of money into it. The main actor looks a bit too much like Craig Goodwin though

I’ve got the final episode to go.

Best television since breaking bad

I’ve only seen the first episode so far. Great cast. It’s like a big budget movie. Looking forward to the rest of it

Massive call. Added to my watch list based on that comment alone.

8.1 on IMDB and 85% on RT

I’m gonna have to recommend Pachinko, that’s one I believe is best TV show in the last 5 or so years.

Reading the book at the moment. So, so good.

I’m rushing through it so I can start the series.

Day of the jackal is great… two episodes to go and I am hanging for them… superb stuff

Eddie Redmayne is brilliantly detached

Watched the opening 3 eps of Landman on P+ the other day.

I’ll watch anything with Billy Bob Thornton in it. He’s the main character.

Produced by Taylor Sheridan - it’s got that classic gritty feel that he’s now known for, if you’ve seen 1883, Mayor of Kingstown you’ll know what I mean.

Opening episode also contains cameos from Michael Pena, and Emilio Riveria (who is my favourite Mexican-American actor. He’s just such a badass motherfucker. Alas his role is cut far too short.

Also features Demi Moore and a very hot Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph…

I quote like the gritty Taylor Sheridan production style, but there are moments where it feels like it’s being funded by Big Oil. Not sure if that intentional or just a reality of big oils grip on mainstream society.

The latest episode of the jackal was brilliant.

Gonna have to watch Jackal now, have seen nothing but glowing praise everywhere

Huge fan of Taylor’s work normally, this has the feel of a pro oil screed, as much as anything else.
My wife pointed out that the episode we were watching, #3, all bar one woman spent the duration in bikinis… Also the large number of right wing cunts talking it up online …

Finished fisk last night and ive gotta say its a delight. S3 perhaps the best yet.

I’ve started watching The Bureau (OG French one), pretty good. Tempted to give the new fassbender version a go, but might finish the first season before I start that.

As I mentioned, there were a couple of lines throughout the episodes where it just felt like it was scripted to be pro big oil - and maybe it is.

There’s a few good laughs in it but

See this face? I’ve had this face more than once.

Absolutely and the outright lies about wind turbines not offsetting the carbon cost of making them is ridiculous bullshit.

The timing of that show’s release is chilling coinciding with the lurch to madness in the country.
I can’t wait for the next episode

Binge for $60 for the year.

With ads though, might have bitten if it was the next tier.

This Billy Bob talk has me again dumbfounded how he pulled Angelina Jolie.
