Fair call, we can always upgrade down the track if we have to. We’re going to live in the new place for a year, before we’re going to do a huge reno. Gut the inside and rebuild the rooms as the positioning is really weird.

Im on fixed wireless and have signed up for a 400/40 plan which should be installed on Thursday. It was on a 12 month promo so not much more than i was paying previously. 400 down is well overkill but because the plans are so lopsided with regard to dl/ul its the only way i can get a decent upload speed.
I doubt you’d get near 400 via wireless, that seems a crazy number unless you’re the only one on the network
Already getting over 300 down on a 250/20 plan. Fixed wireless NBN has come long way over the last 12 months. Especially with the rollout of 5g mmwave for those in range of the 29GHz antenna on the tower
That was a 7:30pm speedtest
What sort of ping do you get for the first hop outside your ISP? Is that 60ms about right?
Yeah 50-60ms typically. Apparently mmwave should bring that down considerably.
Cool cheers. I’ve looked at a couple of places that don’t have hard connections and was going to look into the alternatives to a satellite connection. The NBN satellite stuff doesn’t have the best reputation from what I’ve read (in terms of speed anyway) and I would be loathe to put any money into the pocket of Musk.
As someone who is moving into an area where fixed wireless is the likely option, this is great intel.
Hopefully that latency improves a bit.
Very good.
Starlink can ggf
So was that an upgrade to microwave?
yup
