Western Sydney Wanderers Thread- Cosplay Ultras Edition

So tonight its MR versus his old team mark 2.

In the first game a 0-1 loss could have easily been a 1-1 with a clean Rodwell strike.Or with a slightly different OGAWA touch a 2-1 win.

I’m sure the Westys will have a real go against the busParkers.

Rodwell starts in central defence.Ziggy"trophyHunter"gordon back riding pine where he should be.

Mejias also appears to have been given the ass.

He didn’t start against Victory either

I dont get the dislike for this, they are a rabble and demand better as any fans of all clubs should. Bagging the guys on that channel, who are obviously absolute diehards, is a bit dumb.

Because they’re consistently claiming that they’re the greatest fans in the league and they’re the only fans that stay with the club thick and thin. They’ve probably got the highest number of walkouts and boycotts of every single supporting group and have a mentality that they own the club and the club should do exactly as they say. Despite the obvious issues with flares, supporter violence and the rest. So far, the biggest walkouts and boycotts have been due to the club not supporting them when they were sanctioned for poor support conduct…

Absolute grey area, Lederer and his partners provide the $$$ to make it all happen.

In the beginning there were many community meetings/consultations to gauge what the soccer supporters out west wanted.A vote on colours even happened.

The problem was that they had instant success, with also being handed an advantage of an extra import spot that obviously helped.

The fans seem to think that the early success…A plate aided by an extra import and a ParkTheBus trophy should come regularly.

Popa is a good coach, played at a good level and has won silverware at 3 different A league clubs who have employed him. They started the right way with a westie leading the Westies.

He left and they haven’t recovered.

I’d like to see MR(a westy) bring them back to a reasonable level.

The sold out derbies were great occasions(even when THEY won).

Some of their supporters feel some “ownership”,when in reality its a business gamble by the sausage king and others.

That success came while the FFA were managing the club (premiers plate and the majority of the ACL campaign). Once the sausage factory took over it started to go to shit. Popa definitely played a big part of their success, but their biggest problem now that the management and backroom staff is riddled with fundamental cultural issues which bleeds into the football department. They need to sort that stuff out first.

To be fair, while Sydney FC was never any where close to the state that WSW is in, prior to GA commencing with us, there were some areas that needed to be refined. There were a lot of cultural improvements under GA, and my understanding is that it was around that time that the board took a bit of a step back in attempting to control the technical side of the club (i.e. football department) and allowed GA to take more of an overarching role than just the head coach.

Did Salami Sam and his mates buy in after season 2?

ACL came in season 3,I dont think they made semis?

Season 4 was a GF loss.

I think one semi final series since(?).

They’ve only won 2 trophies.

They’re small time.

They were competitive the first 4 years.A minor trophy and the 2nd biggest available to a club.
Is it the number of trophies in the cabinet, or the size of the biggest?

They earnt the STAR, I didn’t like watching how they did it but any FC fan would take it if was available!

They’re a two trophy club.

That’s it.

They’re a shambles of an organisation that once got lucky in Asia and benefited from roster allowances at startup.

And they pissed it up the wall.

Fucking amature shit show.

Same as Melbourne City. But I’m sure if City could swap the GF win for a STAR they would!

Got lucky once? Have you counted the number of games that were “lucky”?

Heart are a lot more successful than WSW.

WSW got lucky once.

Like seriously, if you love them so much, why are you here.

Ha ha, is merely stating the facts “love”?

I like all the A league teams.I dont love or hate any.

They spent the first 5 years of their existence believing that winning the ACL meant they were great. They didn’t build on that success in a single way. In your way of thinking, Leeds must also be one of the top teams in the world as they won a whole bunch of stuff in the 60s. WSWFC haven’t won anything since 2014, they haven’t come close to anything since 2016 and have barely managed to scrape into the top finals series in 6 years. What they may have been in the past, they’re obviously not any more.

I thought this was the Heart vs Mariners thread?

Always like this analogy when I’ve had the misfortune of meetings a wsw fan who brings up their ACL win.

Who is a more successful club: Nottingham Forest or Arsenal?

They always go Arsenal. Of course the mental gymnastics kicks in when you point out how Arsenal have one a bucket load more trophies, none of which is the European cup / Champions League.

we’ve won a continental championship… how else did we play in the club world cup?
i could say… “where is our star?”.

but instead of waxing lyrical about it… fuck it!

give me all the other brilliant moments any day of the week.

all that wonderful silverware is a bonus for the club, the players and our supporters

We also are the reigning champions and holders of the coveted Townsville Cup.

That trumps any mickey mouse AFC tournament that may have been won through bus depot parking-esque and shoddy refereeing.
