When it comes to Europe, you really don’t have anyone else. Germany is currently transferring power and they more than likely won’t have someone as stable as Merkle moving forward. Spain and Italy are still dealing with repercussions of Covid and economically, they’ve taken huge hits. That leaves you’re smaller countries like Poland, Netherlands, Austria the Scandinavians and most of these either have no desire to be seen as world leaders, or if they do, would take the world down some pretty screwed up directions (i,e. Poland).
You currently have Europe still dealing with Covid, Belorussia using refugees as weapons, rebels sitting on the border with Ukraine, Russia looking to capitalize anywhere and control Europe by limiting their gas supply and general unrest from the right wing nut jobs. Europe needs a leader to step up and take some semblance of control, currently the only real charismatic leader who’s steady, is Macron.

I think the Pacific teams don’t do as well as those from elsewhere (Reunin Is, etc), but there’s been a few runs to the last 62/32. We go on about the magic of the cup, but that’s a hell of a road trip for them (they get flown over to mainland France).

There was a video call with the head of the Tennis Association and then an “appearance” at a local tennis competition. Wasn’t clear whether she was alone on the Video Call and she’s not answering any other phone calls at the moment.

They’ve pussyfooted around him being anti-vax, saying it’s his personal choice etc, all the while he’s accusing them of “blackmailing” him into getting a jab.
