2016 - they abolished Group Ticket Voting so you could indicate your own preferences above the line and below, and allowed votes to exhaust.
They had a double dissolution that reduced quotas and we got Xenophon and One Nation each getting a few Senators and the resulting Senate was a complete clown show.
Itâs fascinating being around Italians when they select the pope. My partner is Italian (from Rome) and she watched it live this arvo. Sheâs not religious at all, to the point of being pretty agnostic.
But she was so into it, as were her other non-religious Italian friends. It really feels like a cultural thing.
The new guy is American and reportedly shared some posts on twitter that were critical of Trump and Vance. Should be interesting to see what happens. Heâs also meant to be a reformist
Peruvian citizenship too, plus history of travelling to certain countries. So he qualifies for being kidnapped by ICE and thrown in an El Salvadorean prison hell hole without due process!
The Liberal candidate in Quebec one by literally a single vote, amazingâŠ
On top of that, thereâs an investigation thatâs been opened after a women come forward stating that her mail in vote had been labelled, return to sender. She was voting for the opposition which would have tied it exactly
I have a Canadian coworker who got sent her ballot by courier. Arrived with like four days to go so sheâs pretty sure it never got counted. They donât have a rule like ours apparently, in Aus late arrivals still get counted if posted by election day.
Mixed election results in Europe with at least sanity looking to hold out. Romania has elected a centre-left President. This is after there was confirmed election tampering etc. from Russia to try and bring forward a pro-Russian President that could have meant Romania leaving the EU.
Exit poles in Poland (yes I know) suggest the centre-left Presidential candidate has won the first round of voting. Because neither candidate received a majority, theyâll move to a second round of voting.
Portugal is the slightly scary one, the centre left party has won, however doesnât have a clear majority. The far right party though, who a few years ago received only 7% of the vote, are vying for second position. The leader of the party has indicated that theyâve killed bi-partisan politicsâŠ
Fuckwit politicians everywhere. I love that he doesnât even register that itâs not right that he just gets it all as a gift. Only that he shouldnât have said that he does. Amazing.
