The new Pope has been selected, Cardinal Robert Prevost taking the name of Leo XIV.
It’s fascinating being around Italians when they select the pope. My partner is Italian (from Rome) and she watched it live this arvo. She’s not religious at all, to the point of being pretty agnostic.
But she was so into it, as were her other non-religious Italian friends. It really feels like a cultural thing.
The new guy is American and reportedly shared some posts on twitter that were critical of Trump and Vance. Should be interesting to see what happens. He’s also meant to be a reformist
