Itâs fascinating being around Italians when they select the pope. My partner is Italian (from Rome) and she watched it live this arvo. Sheâs not religious at all, to the point of being pretty agnostic.

I have a Canadian coworker who got sent her ballot by courier. Arrived with like four days to go so sheâs pretty sure it never got counted. They donât have a rule like ours apparently, in Aus late arrivals still get counted if posted by election day.
Mixed election results in Europe with at least sanity looking to hold out. Romania has elected a centre-left President. This is after there was confirmed election tampering etc. from Russia to try and bring forward a pro-Russian President that could have meant Romania leaving the EU.
Exit poles in Poland (yes I know) suggest the centre-left Presidential candidate has won the first round of voting. Because neither candidate received a majority, theyâll move to a second round of voting.
Portugal is the slightly scary one, the centre left party has won, however doesnât have a clear majority. The far right party though, who a few years ago received only 7% of the vote, are vying for second position. The leader of the party has indicated that theyâve killed bi-partisan politicsâŠ
