Must’ve watched the first one 100+ times, never gets old seeing Brosquey’s cross float through air and then the away bay just erupt. My McFlynn jersey still has marks caused by landing a few rows down from where we started, good times.
I’ve probably never been more calm after that. As an eternal pessimist when it comes to supporting teams, Muscat missing that just felt so right. That was the sign it was ours.
This was the best day of my life, hands down. People say getting married and having a child is the best moment of your life. Ive never done either, but if they are better than that, jesus christ…
God what a game that was. Still brings chills down my spine. Just the horror when Victory scored, then the overturn and almost instant response. Followed by Clank! twas amazing. The Byun shriek of joy should be enshrined as a Sydney FC eternal soundbyte.
Does anyone know if a group of the non-travelling Cove were at Shakey’s this day?
I remember rocking up to a pub on Devonshire St (i’m sure it was Shakey’s) to watch the game with my sister & a half dozen other mates with us. We were yelling & cheering behind a group of lads who said they were they were Covites who couldn’t get down to Melbourne. by the end of the game, we were all hugging and laughing and spilling beer on each other. but for the life of me, I don’t remember any of their names.
We have beaten them twice on penalties in a GF, and won 3 GFs on penalties. Man that is the stuff of heart attacks, but they’ve each turned into incredible memories that I’ll take to the grave.
I know there what seem a million people at the REH watching it. Biggest memory was the sound of seems like a hundred glasses shattering on the ground after the whole crowd went nuts when the last penalty went in.
