2020--21 SFCU Player of the Season: RESULTS

Here it is… the results of the 2020–21 SFCU Player of the Season voting!

Thanks first of all to Jubal and James for making this possible. Thanks as well to everyone who voted throughout the year. We had a big bump in votes compared to last season (+15.5 per match), and 97 unique voters. Special mention to the regulars: eight people voted in all 28 competitive matches — @garuna (for the third season in a row!), @scottohara (second in a row), @Shoushi (second in a row), @Acclaim, @Clovis, @littlejib, @testament and @Trash.

And the result: Miloš Ninković is the 2020–21 SFCU Player of the Season

Ninko was voted MOTM in 9 of his 27 appearances, and picked up 8 other top-3 finishes for a total of 37 points. It is his third SFCU Player of the Season title, and continues his incredible streak of finishing in the top 3 in every one of his seasons with the club.

He finished miles ahead of the chasing pack, which was tightly contested: just 3 points separated second (Kosta Barbarouses :scream:; 15 points) from sixth (last year’s winner, Luke Brattan; 12 points). In between were Bobô (3rd; 13 points), Anthony Cáceres (4th; 12.5 points) and Alex Wilkinson (5th; 12.5 points).

Here are the top 3 from every match:

Ninkovic wins player of the season and in other news the sky is blue.

Personally was shocking this season (though thought I’d voted a few times)

A Milos win every two years I see.

We really need to look into a milo3 for after Ninko retires…

Milos is the king. Kosta in second, the silent majority have spoken once again!

Thanks for running this comp again. Great stuff

Kosta 2nd and Brattan 6th is truly baffling.

Also shows how lacklustre we were all year when ninkovic probably had his “worst” season (with maybe the first?) yet still won in a canter.

That’s one hell of an eastern european presence in the past winners list.

Thanks for running the comp this year, always fun submitting the votes after each match.

As much as I hate writing this, 10th spot for Rhyan sounds about right. Just didn’t seem to have the same impact this year.

Still good enough for NT selection, but hoping we see more beast mode next season.

If he doesn’t pick it up, Atkinson is going to be nipping at his heels

Lot of recency bias there. For me it was Milos’s second best season after 2016-17. He pretty much dragged us through the first half of the season single handedly when everyone one else was pretty average, and won it then.

Thanks Rowdy.

Also shocked by Kosta’s result. He probably did just enough to pick up a few points in most games and then when he had a good game he really cleaned up. I presume that’s why he only had one second place finish. Meanwhile Brattan’s quiet competence led to only one win.

Cheers for organising this. Can’t argue with Milos winning, and good to see Kosta get 2nd - he’s been very good this season too.
