Wilko remains a victim of his own standards and efficiency when it comes to MOM votes. He doesn’t often have to throw himself at stuff (thinking like Ziggy Gordon here, who’s made more blocks this season than Tim Cahill on Twitter) because he reads the game so well and just does his job so effortlessly.
Hope we manage to keep him around the joint too when he retires.
For the away draw against Perth, goalscorer Bobo picked up the MOTM. He’s the 8th different winner this season, and it is the 16th of his Sydney FC career.
The loss away vs Adelaide had a clear winner, as Ryan McGowan picked up votes from 31 of 33 voters. 25 of those gave him at least 3 votes, landing him with an average of 2.88, the highest so far of the season. He’s just the second player (after Ninko) to win multiple MOTMs in 2020–21.
Apologies for being a bit slack on this lately, I’ve finally caught up. Recent results:
Kosta Barbarouses scored goals and won the MOTM in both the Week 15 wins over Melbourne Victory and Perth. Incredibly, there was a tie for 2nd place in both matches (with both players getting 29 votes each time as well!).
The draw with Melbourne City saw Luke Brattan win a clear MOTM against his old club. There was just one vote separating 2nd and 3rd here (28 vs 27!). Bratts won 8 MOTMs on his way to Player of the Season last year, but this was his first for 2020-21: he’s the ninth different player to get one.
Thanks to all voters. Don’t forget to submit yours for Sunday draw with Adelaide:
I demand an investigation into the voter fraud and I will not be happy until a press conference is held outside 4 Seasons at the following address: 9-11 Platinum St Crestmead QLD 4132
