If I had to speculate I would put it somewhere along the lines that the majority of the female skaters are super young, under a lot of pressure, and women’s skateboarding has never been given the exposure, funding, or opportunities for skaters to make their way professionally as long as men have.
The fact that there are two 13 year olds leading the comp suggests with this platform and exposure, and more opportunities forthcoming, we should see the standards leaping ahead in the next couple of Olympic cycles. They’ve got more opportunities ahead than any female skaters ever have before and hopefully they make the most of it going forward.
was watching the skateboarding today. So my take away, is that they need to do a single trick and so far, out of about 15 attempts i’ve seen 1 successful trick… Am I missing something here??

Mountain biking has started
Came on here to post that I found something more annoying than Speed commentating football and that was Speed commentating Beach Volleyball, but you beat me to it.
I went over to the beach volleyball section of the 7 app and commentary is much better. Some English bloke with a slight Aussie accent or some Aussie bloke with a strong English accent.

Jesus, the swimming commentary is unlistenable.
If happily take Speed & Harper on a 24/7 loop over Basil Zempilas.
Their call of Ariarne Titmus’ swim is an embarrassment.
I just listened to Motoheads cover of Bowie’s Heroes.
It’s much better than commentary.
Don’t really care for water polo, but some of those girls are deliciously thicc

I’ve played water polo, they will all kill you. womens water polo is more brutal than men’s.
In sporting related news to our women water polo team, our keeper made about 10 saves in the last few minutes for us to beat Netherlands in an awesome performance.
Can confirm that. Played in high school and the girls were absolutely vicious. We used to come out of the pool covered in scratches
I watched the medal races this morning on the swimming channel, not the main channel, and it was fantastic.
I will not be watching any more coverage on the main channels for the rest of the games. Far less ads too!
